I would hate to see Alaska destroyed due to greed, but it is a heck of a lot better than seeing body bags coming home from Iraq. I seriously believe we would have little to no interest in the Middle East if it weren't for the oil.
That's the problem! Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is not a long-term solution; it will not change our dependence on Middle East oil, it will not reduce the high price of oil, and it will not reduce the number of body bags coming back from Iraq.
It will produce a few jobs for a couple of years but mostly it will line the pockets of a few of Bush's friends and contributors with more money!
My biggest fear is that they won't limit the drilling to a small, restricted area and once they get in, there will be no stopping them until the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is forever destroyed.
