Take that Mr. CompASSionate Conservative President Gasman. smile.gif Money used to actually help people (rather than to blow them to bits) was to be cut 1 percent by Bush...yep, cutting from a program that was already stretched to it's limits is such a wonder way of helping people.

This same Senate that Bobbie now adores also just approved drilling for oil in ANWR.
My friends and I are going to celebrate this weekend by roasting a caribou.

You are delusional. Sometimes this group of whackjobs vote responsibly, sometimes they don't. In the last four years, they usually haven't. To see how your Senators voted, click here.

LOL, William! More at "tick, tick, tick," though, I'd say!

If drilling for oil in Alaska will get us out of the mess that we are in in the Middle East, I hate to say it, but I would support it IF (big IF here) it were done responsibly. Is that possible in this day and age of greed? I sure hope so. I would hate to see Alaska destroyed due to greed, but it is a heck of a lot better than seeing body bags coming home from Iraq. I seriously believe we would have little to no interest in the Middle East if it weren't for the oil. Please forgive me fellow environmentalists and Democrats, but I am tired of seeing our armed forces killed and mamed on a daily basis, all in the name of gasoline.

That's the problem! Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is not a long-term solution; it will not change our dependence on Middle East oil, it will not reduce the high price of oil, and it will not reduce the number of body bags coming back from Iraq.

It will produce a few jobs for a couple of years but mostly it will line the pockets of a few of Bush's friends and contributors with more money!

My biggest fear is that they won't limit the drilling to a small, restricted area and once they get in, there will be no stopping them until the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is forever destroyed.

I don't really want to keep the conversation off the original topic, but ANWR will not solve our oil problems nor will it extricate us from the Middle East. The majority of US petroleum products come from Canada, Mexico Venezuela, and our own domestic production. ANWR will, at most, provide a small percent of our oil needs and only for a very limited amount of time. As with all issues this administartion favors, the benefit and ease have been tremendously overstated and the downside has been completely ignored. ANWR is more about squeezing out more oil profits for Bush supporters than about reducing our dependence on Middle Eastern energy resources.

Don't sweat it. My goal for St. Patrick's Day was to completely derail the Bobster's threads - and I did! He wanted to talk about Medicaid - I changed the subject to ANWR. He wanted to talk about North Korea - I changed the subject to IKEA. Mission accomplished!

Bobby, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm not going to hook up with you. No means no.

I don't think Mr. Bobby was paying close enough attention in Bible Study when the story of Jesus' "recruiting" James came up. There's a basic fishin' mission misunderstanding evident here.

Maybe he was mixing it up with the snakes.

You're off the "hook" Bobby, he only hooks up with other chickenhawks, and we all know there are PLENTY of them in the GOP.

...and probably self-hating closet cases, too, since they are so rampant throughout the Redumblican Party. smile.gif
