These made me laugh!
1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.
4. "Standing Tall for America'" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.
5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
6. Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.
9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.
11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.
12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.
14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.
18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.
19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

They made me cry, because they're a pretty accurate summary of what this administration and their cronies in the Congress believe, and they'll probably be re-elected in a landlside.
God help us all.

#22 Its our god given rights to own assault rifles because deer need to be controlled.
#23 Marriage should be an issue left up to the states, but we want a national ban.
#24 Weapons of mass destruction may have been in Iraq and indeed were, but failing to mention the decade is of no concern.

Are you kidding me? You realize this is a joke, right? I'm sure we could easily have a sequel: Things You Have To Believe To Be A Democrat. But if a list was posted I'm sure all the Democrats would cry bloody murder and accuse the Republicans of being closed minded mud slingers. But if the same thing comes from Democrats its alright.
I'm not complaining. Because one thing you have to believe to be a Republican is this: Develop a thick skin. Because Democrats do not practice what they preach.

Neither do "non-Nation building" "compassionate" Republican Presidents.

This is a joke right? Please tel me you were joking when you wrote this Timber. I know a Republican would not believe that it is the Democrats who do not practice what they preach. After all it is Shrub who claims to be the President of "compassion" and family values, but only as long as it is compassion towards those who are like him and family values of a select group.

Wade, I gave it more thought after I wrote that. It's not entirely true. There have been instances where politicians of both parties have not practiced what they preached.
I still completely disagree with Bush on the issue of gay marriage. But, I have to note that his "idea" of a Constitutional amendment left the door "open" for civil unions. I think that was Bush's attempt to stay loyal to the Right, yet still show us "compassion". I will be the first to say that type of "compassion" really is a joke.
I will say it again. If Kerry will fully and openly support gay marriage he would almost certainly earn my vote.
Side note: Very interesting rumblings about John McCain being considered for Kerry's running mate. One of the things I liked about Bush was his intent to create a truely bipartisan environment in Washington. Bush has admitted that task was much tougher than he thought it would be. If Kerry ropes in McCain, with McCain maintaining his Republican Party affiliation AND his ideology, it could actually put him in the White House.

I don't see a problem with this quote. I see no internal contradiction or fundamental disassociation from reality that mark the other items on the list. Neither party involved in the roadmap to peace considers their position secure. Both feel that if the roadmap were instituted today, they would be in danger tomorrow. Neither trusts the other and therefore feels insecure. I cannot imagine a single word that better defines the problems facing the region.
As for everything else in the list, very astute.
