saw these two articles this morning and thought i would share them with the forum.

the first involves arthur finkelstein, the republican strategist. it notes that in his personal life, he has taken advantage of his ability to marry his partner of 40 years; whereas, in his professional life, he seems to have devoted himself to eroding the very rights he has claimed. hypocrisy and self-loathing seem like appropriate adjectives for this man.

the second involves two articles which outline the "good work" that halliburton continues to be doing in iraq. looks as if their multi-billion dollar operations in the country, continue to demonstrate that they are good stewards of taxpayers’ dollars.

(Remark on Finkelstein moved to the Clinton: Gay GOPer "self-loathing" thread, or whatever it's called -- this topic also discusses Halliburton but I have no comment on that wink )

More GOP family values. US Rep Sherwood is a GOPer from Pennsylvania and married. The young woman in the article says they've had an ongoing affair. (They met at a Republican gathering.) And gays are a threat to the institution of marriage?

Times-Leader: Sherwood denies choking woman *EXCLUSIVE*

QUOTE

Sherwood, who is married, called Ore “an acquaintance” but wouldn’t say why she was in his apartment.

“Did I call her there, no. You meet lots of people in Washington and I had known her casually,” Sherwood said. He could not recall how long ago they met.

“She made an allegation against me which, I say, is absolutely not true. The police investigated the allegation and agreed,” Sherwood said.

“People can say what they want to say. It’s a political smear. I’ve never asked any of my opponents to discuss their personal lives and I’m not going to discuss mine.”

Ore said she met Sherwood at a Young Republicans meeting in 1999 and has had an ongoing relationship with him. Sherwood would not get into specifics about the relationship.

Ore also said she has seen and spoken with Sherwood since the incident.

Sherwood said she has not come to see him at the apartment since the incident. He said he did run into her “on the street” once after the incident, but it was not a planned meeting.

LOL, FT. Looks like Ore may reduce the Congressman to base metal. Yes, shame on him for his hypocrisy and maybe it's time for a better GOPer to represent that district.
