Well Kerry isn't going to give away Colorado like Gore did. I have seen at least one ad each night from one or the other. The interesting thing is the Kerry's ads are about his service and his life as a Seantor....Bush's ads have been nothing but attack ads on Kerry. I guess it's easy to see that a negative campaign is what Bush wants to run...where Kerry hasn't gone down that route.

Bush must not have anything positive so say about himself, so let's just slam Kerry instead. rolleyes.gif

Denver, thats what I have been saying for awhile now. Bush has absolutely nothing positive to run on, so they're campaign has been totally character attack and negative. What's hilarious is that last night during the first couple of minutes of "Scarborough Country" on MSNBC, they had a Repuglican strategist on, and she was constantly whining about how negative the Dems. have been towards Bush. Did she admit to the total onslaught of anti-Kerry negative ads they are flooding the airwaves with???. Well of course not! Oh, the hypocrisy!

DenverFan, before or after each Bush attack ad did you hear or see, "I'm DUBYA ™ and I 'proved this message?" The reason I ask is with McCain/Feingold in place each candidate somewhere has to state that they approved their campaign ads. If you don't see the message it could be that the add was from an alligned group (e.g. the RNC) and not the Bush campaign.

It seemed to me during the primaries that having to approve each ad, led to more positive, issue oriented ads, as each Democratic candidate didn't want to appear publicly going negative. The alligned groups (MoveOn.org) were the main negative campaigners.

Living in a "blue state" I don't get to see any ads unless I'm watching MSNBC. But who watches that network anyway. tongue.gif

Both campaigns are doing both positive and negative commercials. (I live in a swing state, so we get to see tons of these all the time.)

The Bush people have figured out a clever way to comply with the letter of the McCain Feingold rules while still distancing their candidate from the negative attacks -- They start the commercial with a very short (3 second) mini-commercial that shows W in glowing slo-mo with patriotic background, kissing babies, etc. We hear him say "I'm George Dubya Bush, and I 'proved this messitch." Then the screen goes black, making it appear that the commercial is over. THEN what appears to be a new commercial starts and we hear different voices (usually one male, one female) attacking Kerry. Very clever. Enfuriating, but clever.

BTW, a good nonpartisan resource to check out the accuracy of the ads is FactCheck.org

IMHO, the Bush campaign has many more distortions and deceptions in their ads than does the Kerry campaign. Surprise.

Well all the ads I have seen have the 'proval statement at the beginging for both Bush and Kerry...although I may have missed them, I have not seen a negative ad slamming Bush yet...even though there is plenty to slam him for.

I've seen a couple articles about how misleading the ads have been (more so with Bush's). Some of Bush's things he points out that Kerry "flip flopped" on.....go back to the late 80s/early 90s. Give me a break! It's one thing for someone to change their position overnight, but over a decade!? Come on!

I don't particularly care for the woman narrator in Bush's commercials......she seems like anal/bitchy woman.

I also didn't really care for Kerry's first few sets of commercials, but the ones I have seen in the last few weeks I have liked. I think Kerry's campaign is trying to stay more positive and focus on Kerry now. From the coverage I've seen of his speeches, he's starting to talk more about him and what he'd be doing. And he said today he was going to start submitting detailed plans in the next few weeks for various things.
