Umm, it was cancer, not karma, and he had it before he even became mayor. Cancer is a bitch.
Also, what did he do that was so bad that he deserved death? Was a conservative Republican who was secretly gay? I'm sorry but anyone who came of age before 1969, particularly who was in the military and outside a major city, should get some sympathy on this one. It is among the most common of failings for gays of his age.
Was it that he used his work computer for non-work activities like looking for sex? I mean, if he'd been caught using the computer to try to sell an old dish washer, do you really think it would have been such a scandal? It may be distasteful and technically against the rules but certainly not worth death or even losing his job. He most likely spent well over 40 hours a week doing his actual job.
Or was it offering city jobs or money in exchange for sex? As far as I can tell, he never actually followed through on those promises, which were more like hints. I could be wrong about that, but the federal prosecutor said there wasn't enough to prosecute. It was mostly just unseemly. That it happened in the wake of the actual McGreevey scandal made it far more visible and disastrous to the mayor.
Is it because the guys were young? Yeah, I have a feeling that's his biggest sin in many people's eyes.
When the votes of a politician is in conflict with their personal life, I think it is an issue. Poor health notwithstanding, I have no sympathy toward West. Nonetheless, your points are well taken.
