The report by the investigating committee headed by Robin Butler, former head of the civil service, has concluded British spy agencies used faulty and/or unreliable intelligence, and exaggerated claims by questionable (at best) sources to oversell the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. Gee, just like the findings of the Commission headed by Tom Kean. And both Tony Blair and George Bush were given enough wiggle room in the reports to focus attention on others for their lies.
I am reminded of impersonator Richard Fry, who used to do a dead-on Richard Nixon. At the height of Watergate, he appeared somewhere--probably "The Tonight Show"--as Nixon and said "I accept full responsibilty but not blame. People who accept blame lose their jobs; peoople who merely accept responsibility get to keep their jobs."
Oh for a leader willing to accept blame along with responsibility.
