An Outsporter wrote once that (I think, during the 1990's) there were a few years where there was no war of any kind, in ANY place on the globe.

Is this true (please support your answer)?

I think I was the one who posted that, and I am basing it on my own recollection (e.g., don't have a link, or quote, to provide). What I recall is that on some New Years (like 97, 98, or 99) and announcer stating that, at that moment, there was no country at war with another country - probably the first time that had happened since countries were born.

This will sound silly, because I don't believe in psychics or paranormal "things". Around 1976, when I was 12, my parents bought a big, massive book called the "The Book of Lists", which I read voraciously. In the front of the book were lists of predictions by the world's leading psychics. Most of them were stupid like one that predicted in the 1980's all of the women in St. Louis would mysteriously go bald (that didn't happen, did it?). Anyway, one of the psychics predicted that the last half of the 1990's and the turn of the century would be a time of world peace, and that for a period of time there would be no war on earth. At that time, during "detente" and the threat of the Soviet Union hanging over our heads, this seemed impossible. The psychic went on to predict that a few years into the new century the world would return to a new era of war, a new type of war that has never been known before.

I'm sorry this post really has no point to it, but the comments about a time of no wars on earth just stirred up this memory. I think I still have that book somewhere.
