My favorite part... Fonda spoke on her acting career.... ummmmmm, what career?
fantomas
Well, it's already happened so this is old news. At any rate, Fonda has an Academy Award and more than a few unforgettable screen performances, which is more than can be said for most actresses in Hollywood or anywhere else.

Was her academy award for the part she played while visiting the enemy? wait that wasnt an act.

Her washed up career has been over for years and years and years and years...

Poor Jane - I must say, as repulsive as she's sometimes been over the years, she's always been my favorite Hollywood Hypocrite rolleyes.gif .

Can any body say, "Cat Ballou", "Barbarella Queen of the Galaxy", "Klut", "Julia" ( with Vanessa Redgrave),"The China Syndrome", "The Doll Maker" (TV). OK, so Janie's not my favorite person, but not my least either. And, she's stuck her neck at lot, which I admire. And though she will always be despised by many, and she's not 'the greatest' on screen, I've laughed and cried, and had my imagination engorged by much of her filmography. Hardly shallow.

I'm sorry, i only remember on golden pond... what are those others you are talking about? are they pre-communism for her?
TRL
Cat and Barbarella are pre Hanoi, the others are after. If you tap in 'Jane Fonda Bio' to your search engine, you'll see the list of her filmography. Her early work doesn't get much play, as she is still somewhat 'blackballed' from from TV. But you can still rent "Barbarella", a cult classic, and "Julie", which I think picked up a set of Oscars (1973?) but not sure. China Syndrome was good too. tongue.gif

Anyone who thinks Jane Fonda wasn't a fantastic actress doesn't know what fantastic acting is. And why can't people separate someone's on screen life from their off screen life.

I think Charlton Heston is gross and his stances on things are repulsive, but he was a good actor and I love some his movies. See, that's not hard.

Not to mention the fact that what Fonda said is just common sense and absolutely correct. Even people in the Bush administration have said the exact same thing for goodness sake. They think this war might unite many people against us and provoke more terror attacks. However, they think that the benefits far outweigh the risks. They might well be right, but Fonda is hardly making crazy statements. Jeez. How about a little forgiveness for someone who made a big mistake 30 years ago and has apologized profusely for it.

Very good point. I don't think Heston was that good of an actor, but Jimmy Stewart was, and he was a certifiable right-winger. I still love his movies. Jane Fonda was excellent in "Klute" and a number of other films. Hanoi or no Hanoi. Anyways, we should have and could have gotten the HELL out of there in 1968, when Johnson got the two leaders of north and south together--but ah, that vile, unelected non-actor Henry Kissinger's bloody paws are all over that mess!

Fonda's actions while in Hanoi are inexcusable. A USA POW tried to pass a note to her and she turned it over to his captors. Her hollow apology years later when filming 'Stanley & Iris' had protestors impeding doesn't cut it. But as a gay man, I do have to clarify she has two Oscars (Klute and Coming Home).

The one she gave up when she foolishly became a trophy wife for that other "communist" subversive, Ted Turner...
fantomas
Oh yeah, Turner the communist.

More like über-Capitalist. That man didn't become a billionaire by sitting behind a desk in anyone's party and braying on about the proletariat...he WORKED the capitalist system!

Go crazy-ass Ted Turner!!!
PhillyFan
UHHHHHHHHHH, he's not a billionaire anymore... check his portfolio... the poor guy cant even buy back the braves...
