Wow! Did you guys see Mark Grace pitch in the 9th inning against the Dodgers? He didn't top 70 mph.

What a class act. He had the crowd in stitches mimicking the D'Backs reliever that does that head-jerk threatening look at the batters.

Mark's one of the few players in MLB that still actually seems to have fun playing the game.

Crap! I didn't see it. I did switch over to the game for a sec, but bagged it upon seeing the Dodgers leading by umpteen runs. Had I known Grace was pitching in the 9th, I definitely would have stuck around because I've actually never seen a position player come in to pitch mop-up. Besides, Mark Grace is one of my fave non-Red Sox players, and a wicked hottie to boot. And any time a sexy guy is funny as sh*t, he gets about ten times sexier. Crap! I'm so bummed I missed it!!

I saw some of it. He didn't do that awful. He only gave up one run that inning, while the rest of the staff averaged over two runs per inning. Perhaps the Dodgers were being kind at that point.

Heard him talk (joke) about it this AM: he said that Ross was able to hit a home run off him because, after getting the first two batters out, he was already writing his acceptance speech for the Cy Young Award in his head...Loved it! He also said he has three different pitches, but they all look alike.

I still find the clowning and jokiness when a team's getting their ass kicked a bit off-putting. Perhaps after LA beat them again last night, cutting their lead down to FOUR games, the D-backs will concentrate on serious business now?

(Of course, the NL West finish will be irrelevant if the first and second teams both "make the playoffs." Once again, the wild card wrecks what could be the only pennant race.)
