I just saw this posted on another website.
He's the transition head for Ahnuld.
Just curious if anyone else has heard this.

I've that rumor as well for years. David Dreier & my sister both attended Pitzer College, one of the five Claremont colleges, and my sister was a friend of his during those days. According to her, he never seemed to date a woman--despite many who wanted to date him--but she doesn't remember him being involved with the campus gay organization.

What gay man would wear a pocket square?

This has been a question for years in DC. I have friends that work on the hill and they have had questions for years. The only thing one can say for sure is that he has been seen in the comapany of some people, in a straight setting, that are known to be gay. Those sightings have been in both DC and San Diego to be exact. Other than that, not much else is known for sure. Though there was talk that he turned down the opportunity to run against Barbar Boxer for the US Senate. Speculation was rampant that it was because of this issue that he did turn the opportunity down. It will be interesting to see if his name comes up again for her senate seat.

I heard he was dating Mark Foley.

All I know is that he and his (former) long time chief of staff were roommates for years. Drier is gayer than a leather pinata.

This is always used as "evidence" that somebody is gay, which it may very well be. But the fact is it is not all that uncommon for members of Congress - especially U.S. Reps, who return home to the district far more often and do not stay in DC as much as Senators - to share a place with their chiefs of staff or with other reps. It's just easier than having a place of their own at which they hardly ever stay. Just FYI.

A question: would being an openly gay Republican in California be a liability?

Given this recent upheaval and the leftward trend of the state, I can't see Dreier's coming out as gay as harming him, particularly among independent, Democratic and liberal Republican voters, who appear to be the majority in Kallyforneeah.

He might have to moderate his platform a bit more though.

Good dresser? ... has been seen with gay men? ... lived with his Chief of Staff? Sounds a bit like Rudy Giulani -- except he actually did live with gay men.

Fun to speculate about Dreier, but until you hear it from the horse's mouth, there's no evidence he's a cakehead. ... a disco-dancin', Oscar-Wilde-readin', Striesand-ticket-holdin' Friend of Dorothy, know what I'm sayin'?
