Hmmmmmm.... makes me wonder if the gov't is now admitting that being gay is genetic? Can't have that now can we!

This is not news - the FDA for years has refused to allow gay blood donors, organ donors, or sperm donors. Many gay men who do donate sperm do so with the mother's consent, and that was allowed (seems like it still will be), but the bank had to freeze the sperm for 6 months until the man could be tested for HIV (didn't know there was a 72 hour test).

At least they put injectible drug users on the "do no call" list - for the Red Cross, you can give blood 12 months and 1 day after injecting drugs or paying an opposite sex person to have sex with you. Yet if you got a blow job in 1978 from another guy you can never give blood, no matter what your current health.

Scary part is, I got three gallon pins donating to the Red Cross from the ages of 17 - 33. My parents taught me we had an obligation to donate blood (although Ma could not, because of hepititis). When I was closeted, I simply lied about my history to give (not that I had that much history). In my last donation (the month I came out), I not only was HIV -, I was also CMV - (virus that causes blindness in immuno-compromised people). The Red Cross, 4 years later, is still bothering me for donations, because only 2% of the population is CMV -, but I can't give, cause I'm gay.

And it is true that the average sperm donour is a young, early twenties gay man. Many male hustlers are regular donours to sperm banks. As they are to blood banks.
