Barbra has released a new memo to the Dems:

Nuts

Here are some of her previous memos:

Thanks for that W1865 -- Christopher Buckley (despite his provenance) is a stitch!

And so?

Really. So what? I can't be arsed, but I'm sure I could do a Google search and pull up tons of rubbish that, say, Charlton Heston and Arnold Schwarzenagger and other Republican celebrities have spouted. And *gasp* Babs doesn't think the Ruling Junta (tm my friend David) that runs this country now is legitimate! Shock! Horror! And exactly the view of a number of people I know........

Yikes, is that closet case Matt Drudge still around? I thought his 15 minutes expired years ago. Plus, I thought he was too busy hitting on Alex Baldwin and Andrew Sullivan to be bothered. The Wall Street Journal? That exemplar of The Corporate Right Wing Media that dominates this country's news organizations can be counted on to be as balanced a source as The Daily Worker. Not that I'm killing the messenger or anything!

Prince Charles, or as this one message board based in England called him, the "big-eared, inbred aristocrat" is in a bit of a mess as well because he too apparently likes to write letters.

William, thanks for this! Barbra's a hoot, isn't she? I'll take her over those scowling old coots Phyllis Schlafly and Lynne Cheney any day. I do wonder what she'll be singing to soothe Daschle's frazzled nerves. It's so hard being so nice and calm all the time.

Can anyone help poor Barbra?

Shakespeare Said What?

As Gustave Flaubert wrote in Madame Bovary, "Damn! This chick is whacked!"

As a Republican, I'm honored to have Ms. Derek on board, as she is one celebrity who, unlike Babs, will not make a spectacle of herself by pretending to master the nuances of foreign policy while misspelling the name of a Congressional leader she claims to support (you won't see a reference to David Dryer, for example, in a Derek memo) and misquoting Shakespeare in a self-righteous attempt to make those of us who actually like this country feel ashamed of ourselves. I suspect you're joking, though, because generally Republican celebrities do the right thing - they shut up and give money.

Thank heaven we have some reasonable like David Lynch, who was asked about Bush’s Iraq policy while attending a film festival in Morocco .. he replied "I’m not going to address that -- I’m here for a film festival"

It's celebs run amock:

"I hate Bush. I despise him and his entire administration -- not only because of its international policy, but also the national" -- Jessica Lange upon accepting "a Lifetime Achievement Award at the San Sebastian film festival in Madrid, Spain"

"If it was a different administration, I might consider a political appointment" -- Barbra Streisand offering to do her part for America under the right circumstances

"If Bush, as I believe, has reliable information on the fact that Saddam Hussein is making weapons of mass destruction, then I cannot support [the Iraqi regime]," Steven Spielberg

"Personally I don't have all the information that President Bush has," he said. "But I believe Saddam has committed many crimes against humanity and the Iraqi people." Tom Cruise

"She should get into her head
She should not get out of bed
She should know that she's not paid
To be loud but to be laid.
Slut!"

I'll take Streisand over Lynne Cheney, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Bo Derek, Phyllis Schlafly and any other of those idiotic Republican women.

And I'll take Cheney, Coulter et al over Babs, so I guess we're even!

It never ceases to amaze me when people put stock in entertainers' take on politics. They're simply out of their element! What part about "you don't know what you're talking about!" don't they understand?

Excellent review in today's WSJ of Linda Chavez's inspiring biography. She went thru A LOT to achieve success and I admire her more than ever - and not just because she's one of the most vivaciously articulate and attractive ladies I've ever met. Her story of the obstacles she faced while still a Democrat are chilling.

STREISAND UPDATE: On her "Truth Alert" webpage, Ooops, I Did It Again! , Babs writes, "This is a response to Matt Drudge's article about the authenticity of the Shakespeare quote at the recent DDDC Gala." The group she raised money for it the DCCC - the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee:
Duh, Duh, Duh, C?

I'm sure this latest slip-up is the helps' fault as well.

Did she ever identify the quote? I don't want to dignify her page with another hit. If it even is a legitimate quote, my guess is either Thomas Paine or one of the early Greek philosophers. I know that's pretty broad, but so was the quote itself!
William1865
Here's an explanation from Snopes, though I don't think it really throws too much light on it. Basically, somebody just made it up and it grew legs.

The Quote has not been identified yet...Its content is moving and relevent to our present situation but that doesn't really matter to slobbering Republicans anxious to find something to criticize...Babs will always be a target simply for her support of Clinton...

I'm sure no one here's ever made a spelling error in a memo or an email intended for private eyes.

Conan O'Brien: "At a fundraiser the other night, Barbra Streisand was criticizing President Bush. In this speech, she was quoting Julius Caesar, turns out the line she quoted wasn't Shakespeare's, it was someone on the Internet.

The mistake was pretty obvious, because the line was "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your naked pictures of Gabe Kapler."

NO NO NO STOP -- I made that last part up -- he said "Alyssa Milano" -- couldn't help myself .. such a dearth of Gabe the Babe posts this season ...

Good example on your spelling comment, Bryan.

If it had been the name of a Congressional leader I claim to support, I would have been more careful with the spelling. Actually, though, it was a joke. Just wanted to see if anybody caught the misspelling. Good going, EZE.

Uh, huh, sure...
