Mass. Governor Proposes Gay-Adoption Bill

thanks for starting this discussion, i've been meaning to, road...hell...intentions....

to me, this reinforces one very important point that has been brought up in other discussions -- the the pro-life crowd, or at least the catholic church, is a fetus's biggest advocate and a child's biggest disappointment. caring stops outside the womb.

catholic charities has been doing adoptions under a state contract for years. and, as the article states, has placed more than 720 children through the years, many of them hard to place children with special needs. of these, fewer than 2% (13) have been placed with same-sex couples.

so, when forced to comply with the state's anti-discrimination law barring discrimination against us queers, what does catholic charities do? they cease all adoptions! they put the 98% of the children placed with het couples on one side of the scale, and the odious practice of placing any children with gay couples on the other side of the scale and decided that the "harm" of allowing gay couples to adopt far outweighed the good of the other 98% of the adoptions they arrange. do they really have the best interest of the children in mind? i, for one, think not, and feel a very ugly side of catholic charities has been exposed.

worse, a conservative columnist for the boston globe so twisted the logic and facts of this case in an op/ed piece in today's paper that he blamed -- you guessed it -- the gay agenda, under the guise of the hrc, for forcing catholic charities to cease all adoptions!

the hate and hubris of these people is breathtaking. i'm sure jesus is rolling over in his grave!

So, would it be correct to say the "pro-life" crowd should be called "pro-birth" because once the kid is born they pretty much could care less what happens to Jr. at that point.

Not pro-life, pro-blastula. Once the fetus leaves the woman's womb and becomes a child (since fertilizing cells are not an infant, a toddler, an adolescent--a child), the pro-blastula crowd turns indifferent.

Perhaps they should be forced to adopt the children born of every unwanted pregnancy they prevent, and then punished severely if they act hypocritically and don't treat the child with utmost love, care and respect. I don't think the Catholic Church would have a problem with that suggestion in the least.
