Beat Frank Robinson. Tied for fourth greatest home run king of all time. Give him a break, he's a superstar!

Really weird numbers are happening. He needs exactly 73 home runs to tie his record with his godfather Willie Mays. That's exactly the same number of home runs he hit last year to win the all time single year home run record. Very weird! But I'm into numerology and shit like that, can't explain anything, it's just curious how numbers work that way..................

Go Barry against the f**king Yanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The creepy thing about Bonds is that, although he's not going to come close to last year's HR numbers, he may be having an even better season overall than last year. Pitchers are so terrified of him that his OBP has hit a ludicrous .559. How does he get as many hits as he does when he must swing at fewer pitches than virtually anybody else in history? And he turns 38 this year?

Well, among the few guys whose seasonal walk rates were on a par with Barry's were a couple fellas named Ruth and Williams, and they did fairly well when they swung also.

That's why I was never too impressed with players with 200-hit seasons... with a few exceptions (Ichiro THIS year more than last), it means the guy doesn't take enough walks. Joe Morgan seemed to understand this as a player, but not as a broadcaster!

I'll be at tonight's Giants-Yankees opener -- have a funny feeling I'm gonna see Bonds' first Bronx homer...
