Full Version: Voting Machines Missing For LA Election

Many voters in New Orleans found themselves unable to vote in Saturday's election to amend to state constitution to ban gay marriage because the voting machines never arrived at the polling places. At least 35 precincts had no machines as the drivers scheduled to deliver them from a warehouse simply never showed up for work. New Orleans was the only city in the state to experience a problem. A spokesperson for the Secretary of State said inconvenienced voters would be able to vote after the polls closed if they were in line at that time.

It seems that even had all residents of New Orleans been able to vote it would not have mattered. With 99% of the votes counted statewide the anti-gay marriage & civil union bill passed with approximately 79% of the voters in favor. Even in New Orleans the measure passed by a small margin. Court challenges are expected.

It DOES Matter. Can anyone else see how this sets up the Novemeber election? How many people will not vote now knowing that when they tried to vote before, they couldn't? Forget the mafia...this is an example of the 21st Century Nazi Party.

I think this is odd that most of the area that was without voting machines was probably more predominately gay than straight. It would seem that there were a lot of gay votes that didn't get cast because of the voting machines missing. I mean 35 precincts in New Orleans. Wouldn't you think that was a lot of the gay area? eek!
