Full Version: Sunday Night Baseball direction

Is it just me or does whoever directs ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball play on the Pink Team? I've tuned in for the final three or four innings on the last two Sundays and have noticed a lot of tight, drool-worthy close-ups of some of the finer-looking players. Troy Glaus and Tim Salmon last week, Gabe Kapler, Omar Vizquel and even John Rocker in all his Body By Mattel glory (which, IMHO, is all he has to recommend him). These are pretty loving close-ups, not just filler while Jon and Joe are yakking, held for as long as possible before hastily cutting back to the pitch, almost like the coming pitch is an afterthought. Maybe it's because it's so late in the game and the cameramen and director are bored, but I don't notice the less genetically blessed players getting the glamour camera treatment.

Is it just me? Am I reading too much into this? Do I have too much time on my hands? Whatever it is, kudos to the director! And thanks! Keep it up -- all of it!

Did you notice that early in the game, during one of Brady's at bats, the camera panned up his body from the ground to his head. You don't see that often in a game so I thought it was some sort of mistake by the camera operator, but who knows?
