Charlie in the Trees
Sending out a big ol' "thank you very much" to all the military veterans here on the Outsports board.

The events of the past 26 months have made it abundantly clear to everyone that the single greatest asset in the struggle for peace and freedom, in the world today, is the American soldier, sailor, airman and marine. Your unselfish service to this country and to the freedom-loving people around the world is most appreciated, whether that service was in WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Iraq or any points in between. You served not to conquer, but to liberate, whether that be from Naziism, fascism, communism, Ba'athism or any other depraved ideology in any place that the American public believes your presence can (and did) make a difference.

Thank you. Enjoy your day. Sorry it's just one day.

Well said, CITT....I echo your thoughts and pass on my heartfelt thanks to all the brave members of our armed forces who are continuing to serve and make countless sacrifices every day that far too many Americans take for granted....in response to your final statement, Charlie, it may be "just one day" but that doesn't mean that we can only show our appreciation and support during this one day in November each year.

My thoughts and prayers to go out to all of our troops in the Middle East and I only hope that they will ALL be home safe and sound on American soil VERY SOON.

I second that Happy Veteran's to all of the veterans on this board and all across our great nation and abroad!! I am veteran of the US Army. I was in the Army for six years from '92 to '98 straight out of high school. I would like to know how many other veterans we have on this board!! I know there has to be more than just myself!!

Excellent thread, CITT, I join you and all the others in saying Thanks to all our veterans, you have done a wonderful service to our country and we do appreciate it. Sometimes with all the politics thrown about it seems the individual soldiers and their lives are ignored, but we do understand that those in the military are owed a great debt. So here is hoping that someone takes out every veteran out for a beer, a glass of wine, or some iced tea, to say "thanks"!
