Looks like there's alot of work to be done "from within!!"
fantomas
As popular as Herr W. is right now, why don't he and others in the White House, if they truly believe in equality, tell these freaking RELIGIOUS FANATICS to shut up and take a hike? WHY are they, like the neo-cons, hijacking our national politics and policies? Who elected them? Nobody. They're starting to make John Paul II look like a moderate.
DC_guy
It's scary that Gary Bauer calls all gays "enemies" of the party and that a cultural "war" is in effect. It's all just so depressing. my parents know and give money to Gary Bauer too (or at least they did at the FRC). He came to their house...blech!

Gary Bauer's next job will be in midget wrestlin.

Mort Kondracke has a interesting column in today's Roll Call -- an excerpt:

Bush Could Face Big Fight in GOP Over Gay Issues

"The Republican Party has a 'gay problem' that could complicate President Bush’s re-election prospects. Bush wants to be moderate on gay issues, and that makes right-wing activists furious. ...

Which way will the party tilt? It’s not a good sign that Mary Matalin, former aide to Bush’s father and to Vice President Cheney and a figure identified by the right as part of the pro-gay movement in the GOP, defended Santorum extravagantly last Sunday on Meet the Press ."

PhillyFan

GatorJamie
I dunno. Those chicks are usually pretty fat. biggrin.gif

Maybe a sideline reporter. Anything's better than some of those vacu-brains the networks use.

Oh, come on, let's be more PC: they're curvaceous, voluptuous, Rubenesque! And straight men LOVE 'em!
GatorJamie
LOL, fan. Us lesbos do, too.

I was just poking gentle fun at some of Philly's comments on other threads. wink
PhillyFan
How could you turn down the bikini bade? Only other job available is beer chic, but that golfer chic has dibs on that one....

if a "big boned" girl is needed, i'm sure natalie can do the national anthem, hick style.

Thanks, Razorback. Referring to another thread, the increasing concentration of media ownership, I was sorry to see this in the article:

QUOTE
\"If the Republicans continue to drift in that direction, we will walk,\" the Rev. Donald Wildmon, president of AFA [American Family Association], told Mr. Racicot. Mr. Wildmon's AFA owns and operates about 200 radio stations across the country and provides programming to about 20 affiliated stations.

That's why they can successfully hijack our national politics. And that's why I have little use for the LCR--as long as they're willing to try to pursuade gays and lesbians to vote for Republican candidates with terrible records on our issues (like GWB), it's not in the party's interest to change. If they convinced all or most of the conservative gays to vote Libertarian instead in the next election, I'm guessing the Republican Party might come around to our way of thinking.
shawnq
One of the biggest problems I see with the LCR is that in the current political climate, as much as they may dislike it, they need the gay unfriendly far right wing to be able to advance their non-gay issues of lower taxes, less regulation, higher defense spending and other issues. Without the significant percentage of voters that the far right brings to the table, we wouldn't have a Republican President or Congress. The LCR generally needs a big turnout of the anti-gay far right to see even the candidates they endorse get elected.

If they convinced conservative gays to vote Libertarian then they would split the vote & help elect liberal Dems. Remember 1992. Bush-Perot- Clinton. frown
JC
Copman, as long as people take that attitude, the Republican party will never change its stance. Why should they? If they do, they may lose the religious vote to a third party.

Copman - I know you rarely let facts get in your way but every poll in 92 showed that Perot took equally from Bush and Clinton. You just keep working that GOP from within, looks like it's going great!
