WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh announced Friday that he and his wife, Marta, are divorcing.

Let's see what he says now about the sanctity of marriage now that his third has ended in divorce. I dare him to say anything!

I been with my partner since April 1985 and we're not allowed to try this thing called a "sacred marriage" even once.

Better luck next time Rush. rolleyes.gif

Well looks like its time for more of those narcotics for Rush.

In another thread, ung posted

Rush Limbaugh adds to the "sanctity of marriage" via his own divorce

The title of this [post] says it all for me.

I love that Limbaugh is joining Gingrich et al on the long list of those who champion the "sanctity of marriage" while they spit on the ideal/image they profess to uphold.

Limbaugh is now ending his THIRD marriage. Gee! sanctity like that you should be able to buy at the 7-11 down the street.

...Spokesman Tony Knight said the matter was personal and declined further comment.

The past several months have been difficult for Limbaugh, who announced in October that he was entering a drug rehabilitation program...At the same time, prosecutors here announced they were investigating whether Limbaugh illegally went \"doctor shopping\" to obtain pain pills. The practice refers to visiting several doctors to receive duplicate prescriptions of controlled narcotics. (from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Rush L. is such a hypocrite about most things. He is drug addicted and breaks laws for his habit yet he attacks drug abusers. Attacks divorce and has been married repeatedly. He actually condones the torture of Iraqi prisoners. He said it was a way for troops to let off steam. He is a very sick person. Full of such hatred.

shawnq replied

Well, obviously the marriage couldn't withstand the pressure from all those gays getting married in Massachusetts. We all know that straight marriages are going to crumble now that the gays are getting hitched. His may be the first of many. rolleyes.gif

MIB replied

This is Marta's third marriage, eh? She's 44 and they've been married 10 years, so that means she was 34 when she had already been married two times. Why even bother with marriage when you can't stay married? What's the use?

I don't listen to Rush much, if at all, but has he been spouting off about the sanctity of marriage as this thread's title indicates? I sure hope not, for someone who talks like that and has been married three times by the age of 54 isn't exactly practicing what he preaches.

Oh! The hypocrisy! rolleyes.gif

Limbaugh & Gingrich both use an old ploy: point the finger long enough at somebody else & maybe people won't notice what you're up to.

Oh, I much rather liked this being under the fat, drug-addled hypocrite's name (and I don't mean anyone on this board)! It's really a shame when gay people marrying in one state can drive an obese, pill-popping blowhard to abandon his wife, but you know, I guess J-Lo, who marries anything that's got brown skin and moves, or Brittany Spears, who doesn't even require that much, more than make up for it! Go girls!

Foes Confounded by Limited Outcry Against Gay Marriage

QUOTE
By Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, June 20, 2004; Page A03

... Across the country, evangelical Christians are voicing frustration and puzzlement that there has not been more of a political outcry since May 17, when Massachusetts became the first state to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

Evangelical leaders had predicted that a chorus of righteous anger would rise up out of churches from coast to coast and overwhelm Congress with letters, e-mails and phone calls in support of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

But that has not happened.

\"Standing on Capitol Hill listening, you don't hear anything,\" said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, one of the country's most vigorous Christian advocacy groups.
....

The Rev. Jim Wallis, head of Call to Renewal, a coalition of religious groups devoted to fighting poverty, said he believes the Christian right is \"out of touch\" with most Christians' concerns. \"Do we really think that Jesus's primary concern in this election year would be a marriage amendment? With the poverty rate rising, with one in six of all U.S. children and one in three children of color living below the poverty line, with more than a billion people around the world living on less than $1 a day?\" Wallis asked.

\"The truth is, the religious right is not even a majority among evangelicals, but they have very loud voices that presume to speak for a lot more people than they really do,\" he said.

Once again someone must come in and clean up the falsehoods that are fantomas's posts.

First, Rush is not obese, even by medical terms. Have you even seen him lately, FT? I'm sure you haven't.

Second, his wife is the one who abandoned him. She was the one who filed for divorce. Apparently they were on the outs before he even entered rehab last fall.

I'd take the "big" out of that description if you're going to be more accurate. He's not that tall, and he's dropped a ton of weight, which is good for him, of course (and anyone else who has struggled with a weight problem their whole lives).

Of course you would be defending this lying dopehead, but let me be fairer to him. (Also, point out more "falsehoods that are my posts"--I usually back up what I'm saying with more than the breezy hypocritical nonsense you post on here most of the time. I mean, you can't even admit that you claimed to be a "judge" at one point, can you? The pot calling the kettle....)

At any rate, the nutty, lying pillpopping radio host is still a fatso. Not as fat, but he ain't Laura Flynn Boyle or Jim Carrey. Hey, what's his BMI? Does he fall under the "overweight" criterion? Do you know him well enough to know? You certainly claim to know key folks who're close to the Clintons and the Kerrys. (Hmmmm....) He's still an addled fathead, though. I mean, wasn't this the same creep making antic hay of the Abu Ghraib tortures? Of course you'd be defending him, "judge."

And yes, his wife is leaving him. I guess she couldn't compete with the pills. Life is tough, especially with a drug addict. Will he find a way to blame the failure of his marriage on queers, as so many on the heterosexual Right can't help doing about their own whorishness, infidelity and lack of commitment to their wives and children?

And if he does, will you RUSH to defend his big fat hateful lies about homos?

Who's defending him? If you had the ability to scroll up in this thread--it doesn't take much effort, give it a try--you'd see my opinion of him. I also don't listen to him.

I simply corrected your usual treasure trove of falsehoods. Rush was once obese. He has since lost a ton of weight, for which he is to be commended, as would be any overweight person who struggles to lose weight. I'm sure it's very difficult, seeing a relative of mine fighting this painful battle.

At least you fall into the typical liberal habit of personally attacking someone instead of attacking one's arguments or points. (I'd hate to see you change your tired, old ways.) Your name-calling and insult hurtling is really juvenile.

No, I usually respond to ideas, unlike you--you're the one making claims that you never back up. Or rather statements that you later deny. I mean, isn't there even a thread devoted to you specifically?

Say what you will about "typical liberals"--do you mean Isaiah Berlin-type liberals, or John Kenneth Galbraith-type liberals, or Rudy Giuliani-type liberals--but I do go out of my way with a hateful hypocritical druggie like Rush. This is the same slob who was calling to have poor people who used drugs locked up, yet when he does the same thing--and breaks the law in the process, forcing an employee to procure his pills for him--he finds every means to avoid taking responsibility. Now THAT's typical "right-wing" behavior, which you rarely criticize and even rush to defend.

As for "treasure troves", do you know Rush's BMI? Are you sure he's no longer "obese"? He sure ain't thin. I don't want to parse terms, but then you are (or claimed to be) an officer of the court, so precision does matter with you, doesn't it, "judge"?

Well, YOU were the one who said he was obese. I do not personally know his BMI, but from what I do remember a couple months ago, when he was interviewed by some news guy (there was some resurrection of his ESPN fiasco), the interviewer mentioned to Rush that he looked "like a new man," to which Rush responded that he lost so much weight just to get to what was considered normal for his age.

Fine, here's an argument based on "conservative" anti-gay marriage points.

The "conservative" argument is that breeder marriage is "sacred," or at the very least so important to society that we must NEVER consider non-breeders to be equally committed or loving to one another, and must NEVER recognize non-breeder relationships. In fact, at the most extreme, "conservatives" argue that non-breeders are incapable of loving committed relationships equivalent to straight "marriage."

But what they never address, and certainly Rush baby doesn't, is that breeders are allowed as many attempts as possible to get their "marriages" right - in fact there is NOTHING a breeder can do that will eliminate his/her right to marriage - even murder.

Gays, on the other hand, are NEVER allowed even one chance to succeed at marriage.

Pointing out the dissolution of one of the most visible "conservative" people's marriage is pointing out the inherent hypocrisy of allowing some failures (and as they are both 3-time losers, maybe the Limbaughs should just give up on marriage) to continue wreaking the havoc that divorce causes society, while not even letting proven couples (like 50 year + Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon in SF) have the benefits, rights and obligations of marriage.

Thanks, CPT. He knows that I usually address the argument.

That said, I'll ask: are homosexuals to blame for the inabilities of Jennifer Lopez to stay married, or to not marry multiple times? Hallie Berry? Eddie Fisher? Richard Burton? Donald Trump? Newt Gingrich? Doris Duke? Rudy Giuliani? His Royal Highness the Aga Khan? Princess Diana's mother? Henry VIII?

I would add Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli, but those two are a bit more tricky, at least in terms of this specific question.... tongue.gif

Raze, I dont know what you're talking about. I dig chics. Especially when they jump up and down. I've made this very clear.

What i do have a problem with is those babes who dont take care of their work at home. It's fine if you want to go make a little extra spending money for some new shoes or something... but.. when the cleaning and laudnry are not done in a timely manner... you have a problem.

So to answer your question, i dig chics.. i just dont think enough warm meals are served on time anymore.

"I think one of the smartest things we can do is to encourage families" by spending money on grants to states, faith-based organizations and community-based groups that "teach people what it means to be in a successful marriage," Bush told supporters at an alcohol and drug addiction services center.

I find it interesting that articles can't quote an entire Bush statement when he's speaking without a script, because they don't make sense. They always have to fill in with wording outside of the quote marks to make it grammatically sound.

Ah, what a wonderful week. I have singlehandedly DESTROYED six different hetero-marriages so far. This may be a personal best.

And to think, I really haven't tried that hard. Sometimes all it takes is telling someone you are gay (or that someone else is), and their whole world comes crashing down.

At work that bitch Charleene was talkin' some smack about "Let Go, Let God." I couldn't help it..."when the f**k did God become a verb?"

Well, it just went downhill from there. Before I knew it she was quoting "scripture" about blasphemy, blah de da f**kin blah.

"Nothing blasphemes liked gay marriage, Charleene. Did you know Andy has a husband. Oops! Oh well, I guess maybe you didn't even know he was gay. My bad."
Charleene really couldn't appreciate this news. The Jesus juice started squirting out of her ears and I thought she was ready to keel over into a fetal position, speak in tongues, and beg for the rapture.

All of which is fine with me; the sooner this damned rapture gets here the happier I'll be.

[laughter] Ohhhh, sorry. I can't resist. Who am I kiddin'? There ain't gonna be any rapture! I was just being wishful.

Finer Points of the Law

In April, a New York appeals court ruled that Leon Caldwell was entitled to a $50,000 state worker-compensation death benefit on behalf of his son, Kenneth, who died at age 30 at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, even though Leon had abandoned Kenneth shortly after birth and had seen him only twice since. The court said that Leon \"met the legal definition of a parent\" (but ordered him to pay Kenneth's mother her long-overdue $20,000 in child-support). [New York Daily News, 4-3-04]

Let's Play \"Guess the Explanation\"

(1) House of Lords member Norman Tebbit told a radio interviewer in May that homosexuality in Britain is \"intimately connected\" to the rise in obesity. (His explanation: The breakdown of the family means fewer family meals and more fast-food meals.) (2) Florida state legislative candidate Ed Heeney told a Palm Beach County political meeting in May that homosexuality has made it difficult for him to enjoy his pastime of billiards. (His explanation: \"(Y)ou have a situation where the lesbian community is buying restaurants and bars (and, presumably, removing the pool tables).\") [The Mirror (London), 5-28-04] [South Florida Sun-Sentinel, 5-15-04]
