Very interesting story from the Philadelphia Inquirer about the co-founder of the first black baseball team

His club was the first black baseball team in the country? It seems odd that it apparently isn't a well-known fact.

According to the MLB site, the "Phillies" weren't even formed until 1883 and their predecessors the "Worcester Ruby Legs" had only existed 3 years before then. They're the oldest continuosly named one city franchise. It was only due to segregation that a black league was formed earlier. Lots of info on the Negro League formed in the 20th century, but nothing about these guys.
