Full Version: threepeat for Bonds in NLMVP

Barry Bonds won the MVP award in the national league three years in a row. This award is probably more significant in that he continued his high numbers in a very difficult year with dealing with his father's illness and then death.

Still, I worry in the back of my mind that he's going to have some kind of steroid scandal! Yikes! Then what will it all mean?

The steroid "scandal" is very real, see the article in today's NY Times:

QUOTE
Dozens of athletes, including the baseball stars Barry Bonds of the Giants and Jason Giambi of the Yankees, and Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones, the world's fastest man and woman, have been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury investigating the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, or Balco, a company that manufactures dietary supplements.

Bonds hasn't been accused of taking anything illegal, which is what Batboy meant by a *Bonds* steroid scandal. Being subpoenaed to testify is not scandalous.

Looking over the balloting, I think it's silly that Sammy Sosa and Juan Pierre finished in the top 10, and that Edgar Renteria did not. And fourth seems a little high for Jim Thome.

I know! I tried to delete mines in deference to you biggrin.gif but only moderators can do that. I'm sure they'll pick up on it soon.

They'll just merge the two together, it happens all the time!

The baseball players involved in the BALCO scandal are in no danger, except for any embarrassment it may cause them, because the drug involved was not illegal. In any event, if they do get some kind of reprimand, it'll be less than a slap on the wrist from MLB! rolleyes.gif
