I think it's time for another "Top Gun" landing on an aircraft carrier to declare the war's on again!

The flight suit, tube sock and "Mission Accomplished" banner have all been put away in White House storage.

Think we'll see any of that footage in his re-election campaign? I'm beginning to think NOT...

My how things change...
Remember when all the reporters/talking heads were telling us what "great tv" that was, the RNC was busy editing for campaign commercials...

Maybe the Democrats will be the ones using that footage.

Bush kills 8 more, I sure hope he's damn proud of himself...when will this end? I'm sure the parents will comfort in knowing that he is now claiming that Saddam had no ties to Sept. 11 -- which was the reason he sent all these soldiers to their deaths in the first place.

NO!!! It's WASN'T 9/11 connection it was WMD
or.....

was it the nuclear program, you know the one under the rose bush....

or was it the FAT contracts for Chaney (with kickbacks for Bush) and Halliburton....

or was it to spike his poll numbers? or kick start the economy? or to get Americans attention OFF the economy?

Wag the dog......

This makes me really sick -- what this guy has done to avenge his Daddy's being embarrased. BTW, Clark opposing the war gives Dean a lot more credibility.

Maybe not in his re-election campaign, but in that of his Democrat opponent. smile.gif

PCC - perhaps "no one else reporting this" just confirms what some on other threads and in the press have said - this administration only allows what it wants reported - how "American" is that?

Sounds more like North Korea to me...

Face it, this administration doesn't want (nor can it handle) many more things going wrong on their watch.

No one else is reporting this. It doesn't suprise that the British press would rush to report a completely unconfirmed story that makes the US military look bad.

It's funny that no one here would even look to another source to confirm this.
PCC
So Pewter, this administration is controlling every news outlet and forcing them not to run this obviously accurate story from the British press?

Original link, to Telegraph, said "up to eight," which could mean 1, 2, 3,... BBC says "at least three."

US troops 'killed in Iraq attack'

At least three American soldiers have been killed in an attack on a convoy in the town of Khaldiyah, west of Baghdad, according to witnesses.

A truck transporting troops was blown up by an explosive device on a road in the town, and soldiers were fired on as they tried to evacuate casualties, Iraqi sources said.
....
Sounds wretched.

Edited to add:

Aljazeera says "Several US occupation soldiers are believed to have died in the Iraqi town of Khaldiya in one of the fiercest resistance attacks to date."

There is no other report that any Americans have died, other than from the British press, not 1, 2 or 3.

The British press has done nothing but show its contempt for the United States and our military. What's worst is that they run stories about our military that no responsible news agency would run, like this one.
Cadillac
well THAT's pretty sad since the British were the only other country in our corner for this fiasco!

I for one would wecome the news that no one died...
As always my heart and prayers go out to those "over there" and to their loved ones here who feel the bottom drop out each time they hear of another death or injury.
Regard the point made about how the British Press is covering the matter, they are kind compare to what other nations press are saying.
That is one more troubling aspect of this war,
Cadillac
P2 -

I agree and hope none are dead. However, it's a very sad commentary when we have to look to other nations to readily report on issues concerning this war because this administration is afraid of the consequences in regards to more bad news due to their poor planning and decisions.

Looks like at least 3 are dead...

Taken from another British source. Whenever I read a report from the British press, I want at least two other sources before I'll believe it. The British press has no credibility.
fantomas
Here's the reportage I've found so far, from Yahoo!, definitely NOT a British source....

2 US soldiers wounded in Khaldiya attack

3 more body bags heading home,
3 more sets of loved ones left alone......

All this from a "pro-life" president

I thought we went to war for Iraqi Freedom? You know, because the Kurds and Shiites suffer and stuff.

That was the last story they conjured up anyway.
Cadillac
PCC - You happy now?

3 dead....looks like the BBC WAS right and the American media too afraid to rock Bushes boat to report the facts! In fact, I'm beginning to believe the British press is more "credible" then the American press under this administration.

This regime we have in D.C. forces the press to do what they want thru intimidation. Case in point the gay ABC News reporter who was intimidated into not reporting a story from Iraq. I'll be so glad when this bullshit administration is gone -- 410 days until OUR regime change!
