Tampa, Florida - Even the organizers of Monday night's rally appeared surprised by the turnout. Over 500 people packed a Tampa church; many are angered by a new policy in Hillsborough County, which bans the county from acknowledging gay pride.

Sherri Call, Fighting anti-pride policy:
"Gay Pride is all about being proud of who I am, so let us be accepted."

Jon McGuffey, Fighting anti-pride policy:
"It really made me angry...discrimination is just wrong."

One of the first efforts to fight the policy will be on Sunday. The group plans to march from the downtown library to the county center.

I remember someone else posted a poll about gay marriage from a conservative site awhile back. We all voted in it, and the results ended up being in favor of gay marriage. Afterwards, the group claimed the results were tainted by the homosexual agenda. Great fun.

Update: it's now 50.8 Yes and 49.2 No. Keep voting.

With the recent bigotry displayed by the Hillsborough County Commissioners I'm reminded of a billboard a local church has erected; That "Love thy Neighbor" thing...I meant it! - God.

Another thing, when did Katherine Harris get demoted to the represent Valrico as a Hillsborough County Commisioner?

^ to see Katherine Har....I mean Ronda Storms

10 News Reporter Dave Balut:
"Did you do a survey of county residents, people in your district before you did this, some gay and lesbians think this is Ronda Storms bringing her personal agenda to county government?"

Commissioner Storms:
”The vast majority of Hillsborough County residents do not support the promotion by Hillsborough County government of gay pride. How do you know that? I've been re-elected every single time by a vast majority."

At a church Monday night more than 500 gay and lesbian supporters expressed their anger about Hillsborough County's policy to not promote gay pride.

Reporter Dave Balut:
"Do you care that gay and lesbians feel upset about this?"

Commissioner Storms:
"I'm so sorry that they're upset about it. Really? Really. We disagree but that's ok because we disagree on a lot of things with a lot of people. We can't agree with everybody all the time."

Gay and lesbians are planning a protest, and they're considering a lawsuit to overturn the policy.

Reporter Dave Balut:
"Do you have a concern at all that this could end up costing taxpayers money?

Commissioner Storms:
"No concern whatsoever because I believe that the vast majority of Hillsborough County residents do not want Hillsborough County government to promote gay pride."

That Ronda sounds like a real piece of work. How does she justify her hatred and intolerence while claiming to be a Christian? She is a Christian, isn't she? I need to ask because her actions are anything but Christian...like a lot of politicians these days. Someday, poor St. Pete is going to be sooo busy sorting through all this Christian hypocricy.

She is probably a friend of Jim West!

Guys -

If you can think of other avenues to get some feedback/votes. It would be helpful. You won't believe the level of ignorance and hatred on the baynews9 feedback section.

Yes is up to 60%. Woohoo!

Does anyone have access or know Paul Tagliabue's email address?

I want to make sure he is aware that bigotry and discrimination is alive and well in the county that the NFL just awarded the Super Bowl!

Unfortunately, Ronda Storms and her crowd have no idea what integrity and ethics are but they do understand the financial impact of the NFL reviewing their decision.

I guess it's paultabliabue@nfl.com

I sent it there and I haven't had it returned as undeliverable.
