10 News Reporter Dave Balut:
"Did you do a survey of county residents, people in your district before you did this, some gay and lesbians think this is Ronda Storms bringing her personal agenda to county government?"
Commissioner Storms:
”The vast majority of Hillsborough County residents do not support the promotion by Hillsborough County government of gay pride. How do you know that? I've been re-elected every single time by a vast majority."
At a church Monday night more than 500 gay and lesbian supporters expressed their anger about Hillsborough County's policy to not promote gay pride.
Reporter Dave Balut:
"Do you care that gay and lesbians feel upset about this?"
Commissioner Storms:
"I'm so sorry that they're upset about it. Really? Really. We disagree but that's ok because we disagree on a lot of things with a lot of people. We can't agree with everybody all the time."
Gay and lesbians are planning a protest, and they're considering a lawsuit to overturn the policy.
Reporter Dave Balut:
"Do you have a concern at all that this could end up costing taxpayers money?
Commissioner Storms:
"No concern whatsoever because I believe that the vast majority of Hillsborough County residents do not want Hillsborough County government to promote gay pride."
