Seattle times is reporting that a King county judge has ruled Washington state's DOMA violates the state constitution.

I imagine we will be hearing about activist judges from the Repubs....

What exactly does this mean? I am assuming until it goes to the state Supreme Court it does not rank with Mass. ruling. Am I wrong?

While the Seattle Times article points out that no local marriage licenses can be issued until the state Supreme Court reviews the case (which obviously could take months or even years before it is heard and a decision is rendered by the high court in Washington) this is still a positive sign....the timing could also not be better in light of the homophobes in Missouri who voted to advocate discrimination in the "Show-Me" state yesterday....hopefully this story will at least partially offset some of the negative publicity that we have been receiving following the results of Tuesday's referendum -- not to mention shut up many of those holier than thou religious bigots who have been claiming that God "is on their side" and "TOLD" the citizens of Missouri to approve that discriminatory amendment. rolleyes.gif

I will remain cautiously optimistic on this, but regardless this is a step in the right direction. biggrin.gif

This is excellent news! Now if I only lived in WA. I know that there is a case pending in New Jersey and from what I have heard it may end up in our favor. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Yea!! About time. But its still a process, but this is a begining and a good one.
