Just got an e-mail from the Kerry camp, and he and Edwards will be on "60 Minutes" tonight.

I only caught a part of it, but I thought their wives both added two great lines of the night. When asked about the whole millionaire democrat running for the middle class person...

A) Mrs. Kerry responded saying that Republicans never criticized her late husband and that they loved having him with that money.

cool.gif Mrs. Edwards pointed out that both men voted against tax cuts that would have helped them out the tremendously.

Mrs. Heinz has a foreign accent. Is it German? I can't quite make i tout. She comes across to me as very intelligent, and very protective of her husband.

Theresa Thierstein Simões-Ferreira Heinz Kerry is from Mozambique. Her family is Portuguese-Maltese-Swiss, etc.. She was educated in Switzerland, among other places, and speaks at least five languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German).

She appears accustomed to saying whatever she thinks. I guess having a billion dollars will do that for you, but I found her refreshing. Edwards's wife comes across as very sharp too--she exudes a certain kind of middle-Americanness that people might underestimate.

John Edwards's liveliness is just infectious. I'm so glad Kerry picked him. I just hope he doesn't turn into a jelly doughnut, like Lieberman, when he faces up against Dracula (Cheney).

I'm a big fan of the Kerry/Edwards ticket. They're sort of the Lennon/McCartney of politics. Kerry--introspective, thoughtful, aloof, Revolution--Edwards, warm, sunny, charismatic, With A Little Luck.

Adelphia--my cable company--is known to be socially conservative. Last night, just as "60 Minutes" was to begin, the cable went out to more than 20,000 homes in southern California. It remained out for more than two hours and today, there are questions as to whether it was a "normal" cable outage or whether executives within Adelphia made a political decision.

I like Teresa Heinz a lot--very sharp and totally unlike a "political wife." There are no beaming stares at her husband (a la Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush) and, oddly for a worldly billionaire, connects with people.
