Full Version: Nethercutt to run against Murray for Senate Seat

This is going to be really really interesting, and probably really really ugly and nasty. George Nethercutt®, who currently represents my district (E. Washington) in the House has decided (after talking to Shrub, and probably Rove)has decided to take on Patty Murray (D) for a Senate seat. This is the guy, Netehrcutt who back in 1994, I believe who defeated Tom Foley, former Speaker of the House, and said he would be a "one term candidate", yeah, right. Here he is almost 10 years later, after breaking his promise, deciding to take on the favorite in Murray. Will Nethercutts' right wing politics be able to take on liberal Western Washington??? Gosh, I hope not. My partner and I are thinking seriously of working for Murray in this battle. Go Patty Go!

Patty Murray's running for re-election? I thought she was over in the Middle East, helping Osama bin Laden build all those day care centers she was so happy about.

Puckman, help me out here: If I'm not mistaken, isn't Nethercutt known for running what have come to be called "negative campaigns?" (And this question comes from a Californian who has been used to down-and-dirty mudfests, from Gray Davis, Pete Wilson, and the late Sam Yorty.)

Patty Murray was elected--if I'm not mistaken--in part because of her outsider status. It seems that people like that are fairly easy picking for negative campaigners unless they have been highly effective in office. Has Murray been an effective Senator for WA? Isn't her reputation as something of a lightweight?

On a different note regarding WA politics, which Dem seems to have the inside track to follow Locke as governor?

Our Attornery General Christine Greogire, she was the lead counsel in the multi state 216 billion dollar tobacco settlement.

Nethercutt doesn't have a chance at winning the senate race. Washington state has not elected a senator from east of the Cascade mountains since the 1920's. He is to conservative to win the majority of the puget sound voters.

He is the GOP's second choice.... Jennifer Dunn decided not to run, as she probably realized she could not win against Murray.

We will see a plus out of this, Nethercutts seat will open up and maybe we can get a democrat back in there.

Adam, Marinerfan is exactly on track regarding what he said and his opinions of whats going on. Nethercutt will probably take the more conservative side of the state, mine, but doesn't stand a chance on the more populous and liberal west side. Thank goodness.
I also agree Christine Gregoire (D)has probably the best inside shot as of now for Governor.

Unfortunately, there are at least two Republicans lined up for Netehrcutts' House seat. One is Spokane County Sheriff Mark Sterk, but we call "jerk". Don't know the other guy.
