From the annals of hypocrisy, here's a little zinger. My larger question: what percentage of these anti-gay zealots do you believe are struggling with their own homosexual fear and self-loathing? What ways do you think gays and non-gays can address this?
Washington Blade: Police BeatPreacher charged by Pa. police with soliciting gay sex
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Pennsylvania police charged Rev. Stephen White, known for preaching against homosexuality and sexual promiscuity at Yale and other college campuses, with soliciting sex from a male teen in a Philadelphia suburb, the Yale Daily News reported. Known to students as “Brother Stephen,” White has made informal speeches on campuses denouncing minorities, gays, religious groups and portions of popular culture. In June, White was arrested after he allegedly offered $20 to a 14-year-old male in West Chester, Pa., to allow White to perform oral sex on him, the News reported. According to the teen’s sworn affidavit, White approached him, then later told the teen he could “make some money” by letting White perform fellatio on him, the campus newspaper reported. After the encounter, the teen reported the vehicle’s license plate number to his mother, who then contacted the police. Charges against White include criminal attempt to lure a child into a motor vehicle and criminal solicitation to involuntary deviant sexual intercourse. He is scheduled for trial Nov. 24.
Well, THIS will shut him up now, won't it? Stupid hypocrite.

I believe strongly that men who speak against homosexual actions, are actually gay, and can't deal with it!

And then there was
Former church youth leader arrested for soliciting sex from minor "Hewart Lee Bennett, 46, of West Palm Beach, Fla., told deputies he was on a mission of spreading the word of Jesus to young people, which he would do after gaining their trust by talking to them about sex in online chat rooms.
"The 15-year-old boy... said he had met Bennett in a gay chat room, where Bennett posed as a young man and said he wanted to come over and have sex.
"Richard Moseley, pastor of First Seventh-day Adventist Church, said 'Oh, no. That's not the way to do it. I believe in ministering to kids, but that's not the way do it.' "
Jeez, I should hope not!

Well, my first impulse is to take him to a town square and have a crowd of people pelt him endlessly with large stones.
I always think of this guy Steve, whom I met through my brother. Within 5 minutes of meeting him he was going on and on and on about how much he loved women etc. I later told my brother "What a fag!". Sure enough, 2 years later I was blowing him. He had been totally warped by his mom's religion (Christian Scientist, I think) and just couldn't deal with his homosexuality. Sad, sad, sad.
On a more realistic level, I think these sort of tedious moralizers need to be shouted down at every turn. You would think that after all the "scandals" of late involving said Tedious Moralizers (Bill Bennett et al) people would know better but it seems that people will always flock to someone who talks in black/white absolutes and basically says "Do this and you'll be happy!". Well, I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone dictate their notion of happiness to me.

Well, according to Wayne Besen's Anything but Straight Peter LaBarbara, who was with a number of anti-gay organizations in the past (and recently was moved to the Illinois chapter of one of them, although he had once been in the national office - not that this was a demotion or anything) has one of the largest collections of gay porn available, and he likes to dress up in leather so that he can visit leather bars to "document" the depravity.
Quite frankly, when any of these guys gets on TV and spout off on the evils of homosexuality, my gaydar starts pinging.

here to read about more "Family Values" being practiced. I love this:
QUOTE
Congressman John Culberson, who appears weekly on Matthews' show says he can't imagine the talk show host being involved in any indecency with a child. He said \"I just can't even imagine…I refuse to believe it…It must be a mistake.\"
Right. Just like the neighbors who've lived next to a guy who's revealed to be a serial killer say stuff like \"But....but....he walked his dog and kept his lawn neatly trimmed! It can't be!\".
And add
Hewart Lee Bennett to the rollcall of people who will use the \"Do as I say, not as I do\" defense.
QUOTE
Police say Bennett, a volunteer assistant youth minister and elder at the West Palm Beach First Seventh-day Adventist Church, told them he was in the area to talk to young people about coming to the Lord.
Police reported seeing a 15-year-old boy walking away from Bennett's car. The boy told them Bennett asked for directions to his house and demanded he get in the car. The boy said he gave him a fake address and ran.
The boy later told investigators he had communicated with Bennett in a gay chat room, where Bennett allegedly said he \"wanted to come over and have anal sex. And teach me different sexual positions.\"
Police say Bennett admitted that he talked about sex with children online, but only described sex acts to gain their trust and tell them about the love of Jesus.

I get so angry and conflicted when I read or hear these stories. I mean, while I enjoy seeing these homophobic, hypocritical bastards getting what they deserve, it still hurts me (and I am sure all of you) to see a minor being drawn into performing such acts. I know that kids are wiser than ever, but it doesn't lessen the psychological problems that could hurt them later in life. If these so-called "family values" or "Christian coalition" types want to pray for someone, they should pray that these minors actually turn out okay.

I think this kind of preaching is just a way to avoid his own self-hatred for being attracted to men. He convinced himself that a normal relationship between two men is so wrong and sinful that his only option to act upon his inate attraction is to pay a kid for a bj....outrageous.
I don't think he will have to pay for it in prison and he certainly won't get paid for it!

Having spent years among their ranks, I'd say the percentage is fairly high, certainly higher than they'll ever admit.
How to adddress it? Just point to the facts. Open minds, like open parachutes, will function.

Oh well, does anyone have info on this anti-gay Catholic fanatic?
Salon: Priest told to stop giving out pamphlets QUOTE
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A Roman Catholic diocese in western Pennsylvania has ordered a priest to stop distributing an anti-gay sex pamphlet that it says \"borders on the pornographic.\"
The Rev. John Nesbella, who works at the Prince of Peace parish in Northern Cambria in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, said Wednesday that he has stopped distributing \"Medical Consequences of What Homosexuals Do.\"
But Nesbella says the seven-page document supports the church's stance against same-sex marriage by detailing claims about the negative medical consequences of gay sex acts.
***
Sister Mary Parks, a spokeswoman for the diocese that covers west-central Pennsylvania, said the pamphlet \"borders on the pornographic.\"
\"The Bishop (Joseph Adamec) was concerned that the explicit nature of the material might lead us to become part of the problem rather than part of the solution,\" she said.
And he just claims he wants to help promote the idea that marriage is between a man and a woman....

I find it funny that he's worried about the health effects of homosexuality and want's to make it so we can't marry because of that.
Ok, then I say that Alcoholics can not get married because thier lifestyle is so distructive, both emotionally, and physically, to themselves as well as to others.
I used to be one of those people who didn't see the need for Gay Marriage, but now I'm just plain pissed off about the way that the Right thinks they are better than me, and I think I may be bitter now, but God Damn it I want the same freakin rights as anyone else.
ok, (burshing my hair back) I'll settle down, and hop off my soap box.

These stories really take the cake. The scary thing is, people (most straight) tend to think of many of these offenders as gay. When actually, based on the things some of them do fall under the catagory of pedophile. These people need major help.

Carswell was the one... and you noticed that after he got nabbed, he faded into the obscurity he so richly deserved. 30-some-odd years later, I still cringe at the thought of that man on the Supreme Court. Though if he were still alive, he'd probably be re-nominated by Geo W Shrub.

Craig White is going to prison, hopefully:
QUOTE
Anti-gay preacher convicted in soliciting male teenager
In Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia preacher known for denouncing homosexuality was convicted by a Chester County jury of soliciting sex from a West Chester male teenager. The panel of six men and six women found the Rev. Craig Stephen White guilty of criminal solicitation to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and related offenses. White faces a minimum of three years in prison on the most serious charge, according to sentencing guidelines. \"He's a preacher, and he has access to children,\" the judge said. \"This jury has spoken. He has been convicted of attempting to lure a child into a vehicle\" for sexual gratification. In published interviews White has previously said that he focuses on college campuses because \"that's where most of the sinners hang out.\" White has vocally condemned Jews, Muslims, atheists and gays and lesbians

Somehow I think that even the average Republican would read about these guys and agree that they are gettng what they deserve.
Are there any average Republicans left?
My partner, (affectionately called his lordship) has a sister who is a born again, evangelical Christian, of the American sort.
When I say American sort, I mean the kind that considers it her duty to stop anyone she doesn't agree with from having any semblance of a happy life.
Most evangelicals in Canada tend to stick to themselves. They have little, if any political power.
Anyway, his lordship's sister has made it clear that when he passes on, she will tie everything up in the courts, for years, rather than see me inherit anything. She has said that she would rather see a lawyer get it all than me get anything. According to her, I corrupted her brother. (Newsflash BITCH. He's 11 years older than me, and he came out when I was still in grade school).
Anyway, for us, the option that solves it all is marriage. All the legal agreements in the world don't mean anything if you have a conservative judge.
Soo sometime this winter his lordship and I will tie the knot. After 23 years together, I f**king well SHOULD get everything.
Oh, and the ironic thing.
Her husband, the nice navy boy, plays both sides of the fence. He made me and his lordship promise not to tell her, so I won't.
Maybe she just needs batteries.

hell, it was the '70's, and I was in the freakin armpit of creation as far as gay life was concerned. I took sex WHEREVER and WHENEVER I could get it.
