So the D-Backs, after starting 2-9 and having everyone write them off by Tax Day, have won 8 straight and are a mere 5 games behind SF. Who knew they'd be ready when they junked their old vets (M Williams) or relegated them to the bench (Gracie)? Of course, Luis G and Finley are still in Fountain of Youth form -- but 8 straight with Unit & Schilling on the DL??

Can the kids at bat (Cintron, Overbay, Moeller -- um, you know these guys?) and on the mound (Brandon Webb, Mike Koplove) sustain this til the Big Two return?

Let's not forget they're also going to be getting Matt Mantei back, which will be an additional plus for the team. Youth is being served in Arizona, but props should also go (as you correctly mention) to Gonzo and Finley....let me pause while I remember admiring him when he was a Padre (along with Brad Ausmus...ah, the fantasies!)
