Full Version: Laura Stepford Bush on Leno

Anyone watch the First Lady on Leno last night? She looked like she just took 4 valium and had a lobotomy. Leno even tried to spice things up by giving her rehearsed one liners which she flubbed.

I kept wondering why she was there. She wasn't promoting a book. And, she really didn't do any campaigning. So, without some message -- what the hell was she doing? If it was preparing for a career in stand-up after the election, she better be glad she's got a rich husband!

Peace, Rick

The only thing she succeeded in doing is to make people forget that she killed her ex-boyfriend by crashing into him with her vehicle.

It isn't pretty, it happened Nov. 5, 1963.
Just google for "laura bush" boyfriend and you can read about it for yourself.

Leno didn't mention this at all. What a surprise.

You know, i realize that the tonite show often deals with serious topics.. how he overlooked this, my god!

Honestly, are you guys really so pathetic to worry about the first lady on tv and what the daughters are doing?

It's ok to leave your little holes every now and then
GoForITGuy
Feel free to attack the person posing the argument, but you cannot rebut what is true and correct: she killed her ex-boyfriend.
PhillyFan
And you wanted Leno to expose this?

I usually thought that was more reserved for say, 60 minutes, but hey man... ROCK ON.

and really after W running for gov, running for pres, then being pres for 4 years... dont you really think this would have come up before is she was psycho mom?

However, a little hard hitting reporting from Leno would have brought it all out in the open...
GoForITGuy
The point is that Laura Bush is a skank, to use your words.

I could care diddly squat, but some people need to understand that the first-lady is actually the first killer of an ex-boyfriend to ever occupy the White House as wife of a President.

If you want to know why Leno didn't quiz her on it, then ask him.
PhillyFan
Actually what totally baffles me is how you think Jay Leno is some serious journalist? Funny, i always thought of him as an entertainer. I'd usually turn on nightline if i wanted to news.. come to find out, that's not the case.

Then again if you are getting your news from jay leno, i feel sorry for ya man.
GoForITGuy
The topic of this discussion was "Laura Stepford Bush on Leno".

I merely point out that Leno failed to ask a question on her past and did the usual "puff" piece.

I don't actually get my news from Leno, and I resent your saying so.

Although it's probably useless to argue with you, I'll continue for just a bit.

Laura Bush is quite simply more than a Stepford wife. She is in fact the killer of her ex-boyfriend.

I don't think it's inappropriate to put this in this thread.
PhillyFan
you know...

I remember that time i was watching Letterman (off topic) and he had Ko-Fee on from the UN. Man he asked some tough questions about the oil for food program.

Infact I heard that Leno might take over for Russert on sunday with his hard hitting journalism.

Thats going to be a treat i tell ya.

Is that why koppel is getting bad ratings? Leno's hard hitting journalism?

Actually, i remember Leno really grilling Clinton, after he played the sax of course.

Leno/Letterman/late night talk shows are all "puff" pieces. Their guests are usually on there to promote a book, cd, movie, or tv show. When they have Halle Berry on they don't grill her about her multiple hit & runs.
PhillyFan
not if laura bush is on there sting... go for the throat.

Actually laura is a pretty quiet first lady compared to the bag who was there the last 8 years.

I bet Barb bush is a load of fun at a party tho.
GoForITGuy
hmmm, I was wondering how long it would take you to turn the conversation about other first ladies.

The little librarian can get on whatever talk show she wants to... if those that invite her fail to bring up her past exploit of killing her ex-boyfriend then so be it.

Laura as the campaigner has some tough rows to hoe, and she'll eventually have to answer for her past.

GoForIt, why dredge up an accident from over 40 years ago? I don't see you here railing on Teddy Kennedy and his Chappaquidick incident that was so conveniently swept under the rug by the powerful Kennedy connections.

Oh! The hypocrisy! rolleyes.gif

One word--Whitewater. (or is that two words?)

Oh the GOPocrisy! rolleyes.gif

Turn-about is fair play....the Repugs dig up all the past they can on any Dem...but Bush gets a free pass on just about everything he screwed up before he turned 40. (Missing service(AWOL), drugs, drinking) But they love to bring up John Kerry's comments after Vietnam and the Clinton's Whitewater dealings (which I will remind everyone...They couldn't find any wrong doing after spending millions of dollars investigating)

This topic is hilarious. I know it has already been pointed out, but why in the world would Leno do anything but a puff piece. And I resent that someone would call another person a killer if they were involved in a fatal car crash. I will read this "story" about Laura Bush to see if, in fact, reckless or malicious behavior on her part led to the death of her former boyfriend. Otherwise, that is a very cruel thing to say about someone. I know that if I was in her shoes I would be forever haunted by what happened. It blows my mind that in a gay oriented forum someone would be that cruel and judgemental. If you want tolerance you've got to give it.
HornFan
Holle, any kin to MIB? I doubt posting in a gay Internet forum and being "cruel and judgemental" will set us gays back any further than we are with the Bushies, but thanks for the sermon. rolleyes.gif

Laura Bush has repeatedly discussed the accident that took the life of her first boyfriend on national television (including, I believe, 60 Minutes). It was investigated at the time. It was investigated by the media. It was investigated by people rabidly opposed to Bush, his family and the Republican party. No one has ever demonstrated that it was anything other than an accident in which someone died. There is no indication that Laura was somehow impaired while driving. There is no indication that she even broke any traffic laws.

Again, there are so very many substantiative reasons to oppose the Bush administration. There are even decent reasons to dislike his family and their prominence in American discourse. Why hammer on the piddling little bullshit that only makes us, the loyal opposition, look petty and small?

I heard Jay Lenno was conducting the 1st round of debates. Letterman is the 2nd round.
