Interesting article on MSNBC about Ford's support of the gay community and another bible thumper attempting to call a boycott.

Ford is very much supportive of our community, due in no small part to the fact that Former Ford CFO, Allan Gilmour was/is one of the highest ranking out executives in any major US Corporation. I live in the Detroit area and have heard Allan speak at many community events. He is a wonderful speaker and generous man. He and his partner recently donated a large sum of money to the capital campaign of Affirmations, the Ferndale based GLBT Community Center. Ford is a major contributor as well. In all fairness, all of the Big Three (GM and Damlier Chrysler included) are fanatastic partners and supporters of, and within, our community. Their astute marketing and advertising executives are keenly aware that the buying/spending power of the gay community is many times stronger than that of the uptight, far right AFA and the like. Our money is just as green as theirs.

I know the most adorable polyamorous pagan foursome you can imagine. They own two Ford F-150s and one F-250. All of them are replacements of other Ford products. I have a feeling if they were even considering a Chevy in the near future, it'll now be another Ford.

The more fights this group picks, the less credibility they have. Victory over DisneyLand/World? Funny, I wasn't aware they were put out of business by this group. Kraft Foods? Still in business. Let them boycott Ford. I'll buy them forever now! Let them drive the Yugo...the Hundai...the Kia. It would be poetic justice for such hypocrites to be doomed to such horrible automobiles.

I wouldn't buy a FORD product if it was the last thing on Earth.

Have you ever driven any of these cars, MB? Somehow I doubt it. I've driven a Hyundai for 10 years and 235K miles now. Seriously considering replacing it with another Hyundai or a Kia.

Yeah, have to second Birdieboy's appreciation of Allan Gilmour here in Detroit; he has singlehandedly raised (or given) more to the local gay community than any other individual!
http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?...rticle_id=12023 Probably the most powerful corporate gay man in the city.
Besides, remember, they own the LIONS!!!! wink

A KIA, Marcus? Good Lord! One sneeze from anyone around it and the thing's all dented up. I'm sorry, but give me a vehicle with a little protection for the occupant(s). Plus, they're pieces of shit.

Hyundai: ISTR that they have good quality control. Don't they rate highly on the J. D. Power surveys?
I used to own a Ford. The beauty of old Fords was that if you had a hammer, a 2 by 4, and a roll of bailing wire, you could take one across the country.

Yep, they sure do....in fact, they've been beating Toyota lately in the quality surveys....the other Korean automakers are also scoring alot higher in the quality scores as well...KIA is owned by Hyundai....so their cars are fast becoming highly rated (but underpowered) as well.....plus, they have great warranty programs....
Funny, where I grew up, FORD stood for First On Race Day!

Here's the website run by the people behind the attempted boycott:
BoycottFord.comBe sure to view the ads they find particularly offensive. This one was highlighted elsewhere on the Internets. I think it's funny, but what do I know?

So, um, straight men don't have penises that become erect? Maybe this is why Viagra and Cialis are so popular! I also guess women and lesbians never, ever drive Volvos. It's kind of silly to base a whole marketing campaign on an allegedly phallic symbol of the emergency brake.

Joining in late here, but I just wanted to say that when I first read that story a few weeks ago, I was PROUD that I drive a Ford station wagon and it just made me more determined to get another Ford when, and if, my gold wagon ever dies.
Good for Ford!

I drive a Toyota truck. They are made/assembled by Ford and are higher rated.
I'll take the Subaru and make Toby Keith my bitch. He'll need abs for that Speedo while I am spanking his ass with that tinny sounding acoustic guitar of his

Huh? Do tell. Ford owns 25% of Mazda, I believe, so why is it building Toyotas?

Yep, news to me too....I know the Mazda B-Series is nothing more then a rebadged Ranger with a different grille....but I can't think of any Toyota/Ford partnerships...
The Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe are as described....but no Ford.

I love my Subaru Forester, but when it comes time to replace it, I'm going to look seriously at the Ford Freestyle, which just received a top rating in rollover tests. Kudos to FoMoCo for doing the right thing on several levels!
In a related matter, the Southern Baptists just announced an end to their self-described "successful boycott" of Disney. Just when the Magic Kingdom was starting to look all nice and pretty again - here comes the trailer trash, there goes the neighborhood!

Dear Ford folks,
What's a matter? Don't know your HOSS trucks?
Unless Consumer Reports issued some retractions, my Tacoma was built/assembled/painted in part by Ford. I have been in both Ranger and Tacoma from the same year. Yep they have some of the same manufacture and parts. Same cab spec. The Toyota has more of a truck interior and more knee room than Ford.
Now back to your meaningless blather about Pepsi, Ford , Coke, Chevrolet, whatever. Sorry didn't mean to confuse your grunts and howls
Edited to add: The Ford truck plant is also across the Mississippi River from these here parts.
