Full Version: If You're Voting in Virginia

The crowd at Outsports is probably well informed enough that it already knows this, but there are two constitutional amendments to be voted on at the election next Tuesday. Oddly, neither has anything to do with gays, marriage, or gay marriage. Neither is controversial. One has to do with when redistricting takes effect, and the other is concerned with the line of succession.

Read all about them.

Proposed Constitutional Amendments

No, the legislature is bringing up the gay marriage amendment next term, just in time for the governor's race. The probable dem nominee, Tim Kaine, will be against it, and the probable repub nominee, Jerry Kilgore, will sponsor and push it and use it as a campaign issue. I am sure it is just a coincidence that it is coming up next year with the governor's race, though. rolleyes.gif

It will be an issue next year and will probably be a legislature issue. I can't see it being put to ballot...more conservative legislature than population. NOVA, VABeach, and Richmond...It is the rest of the state that is generally conservative.

Also next week, I will get to vote for the first elected mayor of the City of Richmond. Although, I respect Gov. Doug Wilder for running and like him, but when he asked for this to be approved, he promised he wouldn't run. He will not get my vote. Nor, will the current mayor, I don't like the man. I am still not sure about these amendments though. Not really sure which way to go with them.

Maybe I'm a bit off topic here, but I used to live in Richmond. I had the chance to meet Tim Kaine a few times and always thought he was a total class act when he was mayor. Best of luck to him in the governor's race.
