Yet another disgusting example of how things work in Washington. The decades roll on, but D.C. bullshit doesn't go away.

Is it ever possible for you to call REPUBLICANS out on the crap they're up to? This is Republicans at work--a corrupt Republican Congress, greedy Republican contractors, and incompentent Republican civilian military officials who don't give a damn about the fighting men and women! And the reality is, most of these scumbags not only never served in the military, but they also never fought in a theater of war, because if they did, they wouldn't be making this idiotic, dangerous move. When people finally wake up and realize these people JUST DON'T CARE about our military and our nation, we'll be a lot better off.

Oh, poor FT. If you honestly believe Republicans are the only ones who do this, you are more naive and foolish than I thought. It's obvious you are too young and green to realize this crap has been going on for a long, long time. Washington politics knows no party when it comes to contracts and deals. Of course, your ultra-left bias has blinded you to reality (as usual).

BTW, "not caring" our military? Puhleeze! As screwed up as some of those folks are, they pale when compared to the virulent anti-military, anti-defense mentality of the Democratics. Thank God these same fools weren't running the show back in the '30's and '40's, or we'd all be speaking German (or maybe Japanese), goose-stepping our way to school each morning.

Anti-military Dems? Like Murtha and Kerry and FDR and JFK? Or like the Prez who wouldn't even show up for weekend warrioring?

You are so one-sided that you can't help yourself.

Well, perhaps if you, too, were old enough, you'd realize JFK and especially FDR are nowhere near what the Democrats of today are. In fact, I have long held that FDR is one of this country's greatest presidents. Of course, like many before and following him, he had his share of scandals or major screw-ups, but I still think he was an outstanding president.

The Democrats of today are nothing like their counterparts of the mid-1900's. The Dems of today are dominated by anti-military, anti-strength, and yes, many anti-American loonies. One cannot say this completely accurately about the GOP--yet. While the influence of the Religious Right is prevalent, there is significant influence by those whom the media calls "moderates." You cannot find this among today's Dems, who keep their own in line much more effectively than do the Republicans. One does not even THINK about crossing a leader in today's Democratic party (at least not in Congress, that's for sure). The so-called but mislabeled party of tolerance is quite the opposite when it comes to toeing the line.

Looking for a moderate Democrat, MIB? Well here I am baby! There are far more moderate Democrats than you think. Maybe therein lies the problem...we are able to think, not follow like sheep.

Unfortunately, the Republicans of today are nothing like the Republicans of the Eisenhower era, either.

Many aren't, which is too bad.

Yet one more stupid military blunder... they have to pay for the war from funding somewhere...

Having seen a battlefield (36 miles inland) after the old New Jersey released her offshore thunder - it looked like the face of the moon - I thoroughly endorse keeping the capability.

But you will never convince the current crop of corporate sycophants (in Congress, the Administration, and the Pentagon) to consider a low tech solution when a high tech one is promised for a few billion dollars more – remember the space pen!

Welcome back IT. I've been wondering what part of the world you were in these days and what your up to. Will your bf be back from Iraq in time for holidays or will it be Xmas in Basra?

Very busy times... I have been lurking more, commenting less...

I am currently traveling in the Red Sea - hugging the Saudi Coast, headed for the Horn and the Gulf of Aden. I have had to spend a lot of time in Europe over the last couple of monthes however, sort of commuting back and forth.

Christmas plans are uncertain, though BF wants to spend Hogmanay in Edinburgh. He says he wants to introduce me to his family... which has me very nervous.

Hope you and yours have wonderful Holidays filled with light, good friends, and happiness!
