They ran a crawl about it on ESPN2 during the hockey game, so I was switching back and forth, just hoping that I wouldn't miss either the final out or a goal. wink

Aw, big f**king deal. In 1973, Nolan Ryan threw two no-hitters and struck out a record 383 batters. A perfect game? Pish!
Only kidding, of course. Congrats to the Big Unit. The Braves have some good hitters, too.

I'm really kicking myself, I was flipping through the channels last night, almost watched this but switched to something else, I forget what. I do remember that TBS had Friends on at 7, which meant they had a game on at 7:30, and later when I stopped briefly on the game it was in the fifth and I thought that was awfully quick. So, um...that's pretty much it I guess.

I watched the game last night and couldn't turn away from it. Even though I am a Braves' fan, this is not something you see every day. The fans at the field showed class and gave him a well deserved standing ovation, they were even cheering for him towards the end of the game. Rigth now that's about all the Braves have to cheer for as this rag tag team of minor leagers can't seem to put the bat to the ball. By the way, I encourage everyone to check out Nick Green while he is still up in the bigs, another cute guy on the team. He's up while Giles is out with a broken collar bone.

Johnson's pitching transfixes me. I knew another no hitter was coming from him, but of course couldn't pinpoint when. This perfect game was remarkable. He's one of the few living pitchers who, almost every time he takes the mound, is capable of throwing a perfect game. And at 40, no less!
I used to wonder whether when the current crop of Hall of Fame pitchers finally did retire--Clemens, Johnson, Maddux, Johnson--would there be a cohort to replace them. It looks like the Oakland crew, Chicago's young pitchers, and the best pitchers on Houston and Florida will certainly be up there if they can harness their talent and pitch consistently for 10 or more years.

congrats to The Big Unit. (ooh! that name! if only he were cuter)
anyway... he is an awesoem pitcher.
Not to take anything away from his performance. But it was where all the elements came together at once to produce the perfect game. His pitching comnined with the awful play of The Braves resulted in the record breaker.
again... Johnson deserves all his praise. When's he going to Disney World?
