Oopsy daisy...police fired rubber bullets at anti-war protesters in Oakland, but instead of hitting the protesters, they hit the longshoremen who were trying to avoid the fray. Indefensible...why were they firing upon the protesters in the first place? Total over-reaction!

Hmmmm. Guess it turns out that JERRY BROWN (ex-gov, now mayor of Oakland) -- and not George W. Bush -- is the Real Terrorist. Brown = Hitler.

A bit hysterical, don't you think? Brown isn't marching into other countries, locking up thousands of people as "enemy aliens," etc.
Neither Bush nor Brown is Hitler nor Hitlerian. The comparison insults both men, as well as the memories of the millions slain and slaughtered by the Nazis or who gave their lives to defeat Hitler's regime.

I'd second that sentiment in a second. And stooping to such a comparison is unfair and unjust.
My favorite quotes from the protestors that got fired upon were all about how the cops in San Francisco were so well trained because they never resorted to rubber bullets during the previous protests. Oh good, I guess this means the protestors will be returning to this side of the Bay from now on...

Geez, people, this was SATIRE ... sarcasm ... parody.
I'm making fun of all those deluded anti-Bush, pro-Saddam belligerent "peace" protestors who carry those idiotic "Bush is the Real Terrorist" and "Bush=Hitler" signs at those A.N.S.W.E.R.-called "peace" rallies. Hence the substitution of Mayor Moonbeam (f/k/a "Governor Moonbeam") for President Bush in those familiar protest signs.
Anyway, I thought it was funny. Sometimes I crack me up.
I know it's hard to pick up on irony and such without those " wink " or "

" to cue you in, but I thought it was obvious. Guess it wasn't.

Call me a Stalinist, but what were they supposed to do? Just let these people disrupt commerce on private property? This was not a public street or something, they went to the port and tried to block everything to move at all. And they were also at my BART station on the way to the port and blocked my parking lot for some totally unknown reason so none of us could park or get to work. Good thing I didn't have the bean bag gun. Good grief, what is the freakin' point of all this nonsense? It does no good to try and annoy and impeded to populace. At least the SF protestors learned that.
If they want to protest government action, go to federal building or have an organized protest with permits like normal people. No one is trying to stop anyone from protesting or making their voice heard, but there is a limit to how and where that can be done. Just like you don't yell fire in a crowded theater, I don't think we need to try to bring a city to a standstill for something that the people have nothing to do with.

Good thing you kept a level head, matt. I'm just waiting for someone to get so fed up they actually run one of the protesters down.
I understand that the protesters are trying to stop the resupplying of American troops so that they cannot continue their "unjust and illegal war." But their logic is whacked. There's no way they can stop enough supplies to actually stop the war, and we're not going to pull out. All they can do is restrict supplies enough such that some of our troops lose their lives because they lack the equipment or medicine to perform their duties. This is very ironic considering the protesters claim to be saving lives.

That still wouldn't explain why they also tried to not let us park in a parking lot and block the entrance to the BART train station. What is the world would that accomplish?

It's very clear, by preventing you from going to the bart, war is bad... I dont understand why you cant see this, it's very clear to them.
By going to work, you support the evil dictator bush... war is bad... by going to work you support capitalism, not communism.. war is bad...
If you were a good citizen you would not have a job and spend all day blocking traffic.. war is bad.

What I find ironic is that the anti-war protesters are often the same people who hug trees and implore you to use public transit. And now they're blocking the BART station? I guess they figured trying to block an interstate was too scary.
