I will forever remember where I was and what I was doing today when I heard that President Bush admitted a mistake.

My first thoughts were "Hell has froze and somewhere pigs are taking to flight..."

Today, God blessed America!

I was driving home from work listening to CNN - it was "breaking news"

Why, yes, I do recall. The streets were filled with people. That's because it was the night before trash pickup, and they were putting out their supercans.

And as the tears welled up in my eyes, I could see the political posturing by our President.....and all I could think is, Wow, he's not only a lousy leader, but not much of a politician either.

Wow, which mistake did he finally admit to? Please tell, as I am growing dizzy trying to recall all the mistakes this administration has made.

I get the sentiment, but he didn't actually admit a mistake that he'd made (Brown, for instance). He accepted responsibility for the failings of the federal government. Not exactly "Trumanesque." But for this president, definitely "BREAKING NEWS."

"Accepting responsibility" isn't quite the same as admitting responsibility. It's more like, "It wasn't my fault, but I'll take the blame."

I dunno, "accepting responsibility" sound awfully condescending. It's not a gift you were offered and graciously accepted, it was forced upon you because, y'know, you're the dang President! Don't expect us to thank you for owning up to your responsibilities or anything...

FD,

If you were in my class I'd give you an A+ and a smile.gif for your argument! Well said.

Accepting responsibility should mean consequences. If I screw up at work I have to stay and redo it. Or get canned. It does not mean I say that I accept responsibility and get patted by mama. Or that I keep doing what screwed things up in the first place.

It was a forgettable statement. And I suspect he has already forgotten it.
