On this evening's local news, one of the political reporters was talking about the U.S. Senate race here in Illinois. When he discussed the Democrats and State Sen. Barack Obama (who is black) having a double-digit lead over the party candidate IL. Comptroller Dan Hynes (who is white), the reporter indicated that Hynes's approval rating among African American voters was around
2%. Obama's was over 70%, which is to be expected for him, I guess.
But Hynes, the party's official candidate, isn't even winning
in the city. The news reporter seemed stunned.
