This guy has on some serious blinders or is dilusional, or maybe both.

We are encouraged by the Senate vote

Dear D. ,

On a 50-48 vote, the U.S. Senate has failed to overcome a Democratic
filibuster and force a vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment.

The "cloture vote," as it is called, required 60 votes to bring debate
to a close. Senators who support traditional marriage voted FOR
cloture, while senators who support homosexual "marriage" voted
AGAINST cloture. See how your Senators voted and let them hear for
you.

I urge you, do not be discouraged! This is only the beginning of a
long fight for the very foundation of Western Civilization. One of the
primary purposes of this vote is to make public the position of each
Senator. There is a general feeling that some Senators will have to be
voted out of office before the FMA can pass. Those senators up for
re-election who showed support for same-sex marriage should be held
accountable in November's election.

I am committed for the long haul. I hope that you are also. Too much
is riding on the outcome.

Please forward this email and help us to grow the involvement.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

Now we all know these fundamentalists are not the brightest bulbs. It is almost laughable. I don't know but I'm not so afraid of it ever getting off the ground. I think that what we saw was the attitude of America changing about us. I think in a little while as people see how Mass and Canada are doing with us getting married it will get easier here. At least in the more enlightened states. Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama will need to be dragged kicking and screaming but we've seen that before. If I remember right there is to be a decision about it in NJ sometime in the near future right? I live in Jersey and definitly think I would get hitched if I could. I'd brag about it at work, just spread it all over. I'd love to know I was making these fundamentalist's lives a little more hellish.

Pat Robertson was Phi Beta Kappa at Washington and Lee. Then he went to Yale Law.

The leaders seem to be generally intelligent people. The followers, on the other hand, tend to be less than educated. I've had a few conversations with fundy foot soldiers and have been entirely unimpressed.

"... W went to Yale."

So did Kerry. And Clinton. And Hillary. And....

Lieberman, and Dean, and Cheney, for about a term or so.

Maybe we should give Yale graduates (and attendees) a rest after Kerry's two terms, huh?

Oh I like your idea Fantomas, 'cept how about after Kerry's two then two from Hillary? Then we can retire the Yalies.

And Max Planck of quantum theory fame called Einstein's theory of relativity "dirty Jewish physics" eek! . Intellectual ability is no guarantee of rational thinking, especially when prejudice is present.

"Intellectual ability is no guarantee of rational thinking, especially when prejudice is present."

I agree entirely.

Among the oddest examples of that one surely must include Arthur R. Butz, the professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern who is also a Holocaust denier. He has tenure.

Butz in action:

....
During both world wars, Germany was forced to fight typhus, carried by lice in the constant traffic with the East. That is why all accounts of entry into the German concentration camps speak of shaving of hair and showering and other delousing procedures, such as treatment of quarters with the pesticide Zyklon. That was also the main reason for a high death rate in the camps, and for the crematoria that existed in all.

When Germany collapsed in chaos, then of course all such defenses ceased, and typhus and other diseases became rampant in the camps, which quartered mainly political prisoners, ordinary criminals, homosexuals, conscientious objectors and Jews conscripted for labor. Hence the horrible scenes, which however had nothing to do with \"extermination\" or any deliberate policy.
