From the
Star Tribune QUOTE
Minnesota Vikings players are being investigated in connection with a lake cruise that turned into a wild sex party last week on Lake Minnetonka. The party became so out of control that crew members on the two yachts were offered money for sex and feared for their safety, law enforcement authorities and an attorney for the cruise company said Tuesday. [...]
At least 17 Vikings players have been identified as being on the yachts, he said. It was unclear how many were involved in sex-related activities.
Oh those crazy Vikings. The story also points out that this may have implications on possible funding for a new stadium.

eek! Sorry people - its all just a simple misunderstanding...
The Vikings thought they heard someone yell "SAEX party!"; and everything just got a little out of control...

I guess getting rid of Randy Moss did move the franchise in a new direction after all.
Ugh! I am getting really tired of being a fan of this team.
They really should have fired Tice after last week's loss. That would have given the new guy two weeks to prepare. But no, they just bring in a couple of "advisors". They've got a relatively easy part of their schedule coming up and they need to take advantage of it now. Next games-at CHI, vs. GB, at CAR, vs. DET, at NYG, at GB, vs. CLE, at DET, vs. STL. If they play up to their talent, they could go 7-2 or 6-3 and get back in the mix. But with Tice organizing orgies instead of gameplans, forget it.

He needs to scalp some tickets for his severance pay first.
A radio talk host from Minneapolis was interviewed on TV here and said that one player, Mewelde Moore, said that he was on one of the boats but said he didn't see any sexual activities going on, but if there's a police investigation there may be some players ratting on each other.

I don't think Tice is the problem! I think the Vikings need to run the ball more, including Culpepper to open up the passing game! They need to beat The Bears this week, and hopefully go undefeated in the weak NFC North division! You gotta believe! BTW Those pictures of Tice are HOT!!!

This will have nothing to do with the team on the field. ZERO. If anything, now they can rally around it.
It's a black eye to the politics of a stadium.

Does this type of thing really hurt a team's image? Most straight friends I know seem to think such behavior isn't just OK, but expected. One of the perqs of being on an NFL team, as it were. Or is the real issue that the coach arranged it, or that they got caught?

From what I read this morning.... (read on)....
According to The St. Paul Pioneer Press, any local criminal charges resulting from the recent freak-on flotilla in Minnesota are expected to be minor. But this thing could result in a full-blown federal felony prosecution.
Acting more like Saudi Arabian sheiks than a bunch of young guys full of booze and testosterone, the folks responsible for the S.S. Love Sponge reportedly flew in the, um, entertainment from Atlanta, Florida, and elsewhere. According to The Pioneer Press, the females hired for the Gold Club on the Lake work for a high-class escort or call-girl service that caters to professional athletes.
And this is where the feds come in.
Title 18, Section 2421 of the United States Code states as follows:
"Whoever knowingly transports any individual in interstate or foreign commerce, or in any Territory or Possession of the United States, with intent that such individual engage in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both."
As the United States Supreme Court observed in 1960, the primary purpose of this law is to "protect women who are weak from men who are bad."
And setting aside for now the question of whether it should be a crime where the females willingly make the trek with full knowledge of what will happen when they arrive, the reality is that it is a crime to arrange for the transportation of the persons across state lines for prostitution, even if they agree to go.

Geeez, you guys all talk like you've never been on a sex cruise before! wink
The only thing I find offensive in all this is the fact that female crew members on the ship may have been subjected to sexual harassment. Their employer and the perpetrators are both potentially liable.
The whole thing sounds poorly planned. If you're going to fly in hookers to entertain the party goers, wouldn't you want to ensure greater privacy? I'd at least have let the cruise operator know what was intended, requested an all male crew perhaps or most likely booked a nice hotel suite for the event. Poor party planning, that's the real problem here.

Jeez, thanks... I needed a good laugh.
Lets be honest - there are gays everywhere.
When I played ball in College I knew several. One or two went on to play pro ball. The situation has not changed over the years. I even knew a guy who dated a pro player, so I KNOW they are there.
I'm tired of speculating about who, when, where... get over it. Life is way too short.
I begin to think we will see a gay player come out the day it doesn't matter to anyone anymore.
Wouldn't that be something - a press conference where no one showed up?

After meeting with Paul Tagliabue, the Vikings owner has hired a former FBI agent as the new Director of Security. The guy was already a part time employee as the liaison with NFL Security.
I was so disappointed to not find any report that Mike Tice has been fired. I realize the team is mostly to blame for the whole mess the Vikes are in, but you can't fire the whole team.
Viking miscues from the last couple of years:
-The sex cruise incident.
-Onterrio "The Whizzonator" Smith.
-Tice scalps Super Bowl tickets.
-Taking too long to make the draft pick.
-Randy Moss' escapades.
-Several players arrested for DWI, DUI, brawling, etc.
-George O'Leary's resume.
Enough. I am so disguted with this team.

Can they make the FBI guy the Head Coach?
Or, do a promotional gimmick and give the fans a chance to be "Coach of the Day" and draw a random fan and let him be the coach during the game? I don't think they could do much worse, even if the fan was a fan of the opposing team.
The pregame speech could be something like..."Ok guys, today I want 15 penalties, 5 sacks, and any where from 3-5 turnovers. And if we get good field position, let's make it a real challenge and move the ball backwards. Now let's go out there and give 50%!!"

Sure, heads should roll but except for scalping his Super Bowl tickets, none of the items on your list fall under Tice's domain exclusively. He should be fired for the Vikings' play so far this season--that falls to him.

Looks like a boat isn't the only place for Vikings sexual misconduct. I saw a blurb in USA Today reporting that Onterrio "The Whizzonator" Smith is being sued by a woman claiming a sexual assault. According to the report, another unnamed Viking was involved but he settled with the woman. To amke it worse, the woman is reportedly mentally impaired.

Four Vikings were charged with misdemeanors (indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and lewd and lacivious conduct) today in connection with the sex cruise. Daunte Culpepper and Moe Williams were charged for receiving lap dances and fondling women and Bryant McKinnie for receiving and giving oral sex. I forgot what exactly Smoot's charges are for.
If convicted they could face up to 90 days in jail.

And if convicted, they could face 90 days on each count. So with 3 counts each, that could be 270 days in jail!
Lots of speculation that Culpepper has played his last game in a Viking uniform. Not sure what to amke of this. While Johnson is doing well, he is 37 years old. Maybe a deal with Arizona (reuniting Culpepper with Denny Green) and try to get their first round pick and get a good young guy who can study under Johnson for a year or two.
