Hey Guys! I just finished making my announcement that I am running for City Council here in Wichita. The possibility of being 1 of 6 Councilmembers in Wichita is very exciting. I am considered the frontrunner in the race by those who are involved with city government.
I would appreciate any ideas, thoughts, or assistance that you all have to offer. Please check out the website that I have put together.
City Council 4 Thank you all, and I hope to hear from you!

Hi itsplaytym. Sorry, no thoughts or ideas. Besides, I'm sure if you used any ideas I had it would probably work against you. But I wish you the best of luck in your campaign. Puckman, Wichita has a population of about 350,000.

Thanks guys for your best wishes.
Puckman, the latest statistics are about 360,000 in population for the city. Each council district is made up of about 60,000 residents. The county's population is about 500,000 and if you take in the outlaying towns that surround Wichita, but are not in the county, the metro area is about 750,000.

Just one bit of advice. Don't mention anything about Dorothy or a certain Wizard!
Good luck. This country certainly needs positive gay theologian role models.

Whatever your party affiliation, good luck and best wishes for a positive campaign! But - what IS your affiliation??? It's absence on your site led me to think ... could you perhaps be ... a Republican?

Best of luck to you! One little piece of advice: avoid mentioning any party you attened with Trent Lott and Strom Thurmond!

Thanks for all the wishes guys! To answer your question about party, city politics here are non-partisian races. My campaign committee are pretty evenly split as to party. In my 24 years of being registered, I too have been registered about 12 years each party. I always vote for the person, and not always the party.

Just an update on my campaign. It has been a lot of work, but exciting. There ended up being 5 candidates including myself. The Primary will be next Tuesday, the 25th. The final 2 candidates will face of on Tuesday April 1st.
We still think it is looking real well. It just depends on how well the voters get out. Unfortunately they are only predicting a 15% turnout.
Sunday was an exciting day for me and my supporters though. I received one of the two Endorsements from the Wichita Eagle!! You can read the Endorsements by clicking on the link, going to Opinions (on the side), and clicking on Endorsements. It is under District 4.
Thanks for letting me share my excitement guys!

You're probably already familiar with Trailblazers, the book by Ken Yeager. If you're not, though, give it a look see... Good luck!

Good luck during the remainder of the campaign Jerry....nice comments written about you in the Wichita Eagle endorsement too -- "good listener....would be a caring, creative problem-solver for the district" -- I'm sure they're all well deserved too.
As they say in Chicago, tell all your constituents to vote early and often next Tuesday. wink

Congratulations on gaining one of the endorsements and an waging what is obviously a solid campaign (difficult in any political race) and best of luck on Tuesday.
