I guess it was difficult to turn off that guilt like a spigot.

Early reports indicate that he somehow managed to "take it with him".

Indeed Lex. We will never know what/how many secrets he took to the grave with him.

What I want to know is what he was doing at his vacation home! Shouldn't he have been, oh I don't know... in JAIL?

It appears that the arm of Karma came around and bitchslapped him good and hard. There are very few people I truly despise, but I hope he and Satan have a long chat. Still, I feel bad for the countless people that were screwed over. Ken Lay payed the ultimate price for his greed, but what about the victims of the scam? Furthermore, how does this affect the trial? Oy ....

Crazy, I saw this at work today. Which is really interesting, seeing as I basically have a job because of him and Skilling.

I don't celebrate people's passing. I think his legacy is one of greed, deception, and cold business calculation. I sympathize with all of the people whose life he affected in a negative way. Shame on you Mr. Lay. I hope you have to serve your eternal life in hell.

I recall his speech before the media just before the verdict was returned, and he kept invoking the name of God, sounding more like a preacher than a convicted felon. His speech made my stomach turn. While I cannot claim joy that he is gone, the world is definately a better place without him.

Has anyone considered that his death might have been a suicide? If I knew that I was going to spend the rest of my life behind bars, I would do whatever I had to not to go. OR is this another conspiracy and he faked his death?
Just wondering some wild thoughts this morning.

Suicide is a distinct possibility. As for faking his death sounds like you may have been watching too much One Life to Live.
They have released preliminary autopsy results and it reveals advanced coronary disease as well as evidnce of a prior heart attack. Toxicology results are pending.

You know, I saw his pastor on the news this morning, talking about what a good man he was, how much stress he was under, etc. All I could think was "What about the 10 Commandments?" I mean, it is pretty clear Kennyboy was part of the conservative, if not evangelical wing, of Christianity - the one that is constantly going on about how horrible the country is because of the sexual revolution. Yet I have never heard one comment from any alleged "Christian" of that stipe denouncing Lay or his associates for violating that old "Thou Shall Not Steal" commandment. In fact, there seemed to be no repurcussions from the man's church over his crimes.
Shouldn't morality encompass more than the bedroom? These same churches will not only throw out members of they are gay, they are creating schisms within larger religious orders because someone has the audacity to treat gays as normal humans. Yet this man steals millions, if not billions of dollars, gaining much personally in the process, and he is a loved and admired member of the church. I just don't get it.

Excellent post, CPTDoom
Lay was under stress? Stress is being a worker with kids who lost your job, health care, retirement and life savings when Enron collapsed.

C'mon George, if Stan can do it on Will & Grace, why can't Mr. Lay?

Stress can also be caused by doing something illegal, getting caught when you didn't figure you would, then realizing you're going to jail for a long time because of it.
I remember doing some stupid things when I was a kid in grade school. When I got caught and realized I was in big trouble, I was so nervous and full of stress that I began throwing up and getting sick. Of course, I had no one to blame but myself, but I WAS "sick to my stomach" because I got caught.

No, not One Life -- Days of Our Lives. But, I do have coronary disease and take a hand full of pills every day. I have nitro for emergencies and keep Viagra for play. I am told to keep the two at least 8-10 days apart because the combination has been known to cause death. How am I to know when I take a viagra on Thursday that I am not going to have chest pain in the next week? If I were going to kill myself, that is how I would want to go -- A STIFF - STIFF!

Hmmm. You may be onto something there King. Maybe Lay was using Viagra and coupled with his coronary disease. Perhaps he got the Viagra from Limbaugh's stash.
Lay. Viagra. Rush. It's been said that Viagra and Rush can make for a lethal comination.

Boy, if I were one of the folks ripped off by Enron, I'd buy about three dozen rotten eggs and find that house. I'd have that bitch out there scrubbing rotten eggs off her multi-million dollar house. I hope she fries in hell just like Kenny.

I'm not one to celebrate anyone's death. At the same time, is this truly poetic justice at work with Lay having destroyed so many lives in his unfeeling wake?
