While speaking at Arizona State University, the wicked witch of the west was "confronted by a pair of pie-wielding assailants." Coulter took off running from the armed men but was winged by one of the pies when it was hurled at her.

The assailants have been identified as members of the terrorist group Al Pie-da.

Wonkette has a good take on the pie-jacking, and a link to the video.
Call me old fashioned, but there's just something about men throwing things at women, and I know there are many around this aboard that would question if Ann Coulter can be called a woman, that bugs me. But hey, that's just how I was raised.
BTW, Al pie-da is the just about the funniest thing I have heard all day.

It was in Tucson at the University of Arizona, just a great moment. The only bad thing is the pie just grazed her shoulder from all the news reports. What an Evil woman.

Sorry about getting the institute of higher learning incorrect; I got the ASU information from the Fox News Channel and should immediately have checked a more reputable source. wink

I saw her take off and run across the stage. Isn't she the one who questions the "courage" of "liberals", and she can't even face up (literally) to a little whipped cream.

She also bemoaned that 9/11 missed the New York Times building and suggested going back to conversion by the sword for Muslims (not terrorists, not fundamentalist, muslims, period) I hope she felt true terror, anticipating the fate she so easily recommends for others rather than the innocuous threat of pastry.

Wuerm! You're back! Was it really you who turned me on to RC on CD? Thanks if you did!
Glad to see you again, even if you don't like "My Lady Ann." BTW, wouldn't this qualify as a "hate crime" or something prohibited by VAWA - the Violence g. Women Act?

It would apply only if Coulter can guarantee she's a woman.
Which I highly doubt.
She acts a lot like a really bitchy drag queen. You know the kind. The kind you see on a street corner that hassle you, (and you pray you're upwind)

I'm against violence, so I think this was the wrong way to go, repellant and horrid and racist and just plain vile as Coulter is. I love James Wolcott's take (check out his pieces on the media in general; they're often hilarious!):
Wolcott on the slag QUOTE
Feets, Do Ya Stuff
Posted by James Wolcott
Ann Coulter may be a travesty of humanity, as unacceptable a hank of flesh draped on a hanger ever to be foisted upon an ignorant populace hungry for more ignorance. Her racism, her character slurs, her whirlwind talent for rewriting history, her ability to leave a glossy coat of slime on any issue she discusses (when she licks a stamp, it curls up and dies), these are condemnable.
But credit where credit is due. The skank can shift ass on a dime.
When a pair of hooligans tried to attack her with pies during a speaking appearance, an episode broadcast on cable news today, Coulter didn't freeze like a deer in the headlights. She showed lightning reflexes, ducking away from the lectern and running backstage on high heels, which any woman will tell you is difficult to do. Because of her quick getaway, the flying pies wildly missed their target, sparing her a humiliating cream pie bukkake facial that would have made the papers and been downloaded millions of times on the internet.
Throwing a pie is violence? Please.
As far as the Violence Against Women Act, it would only apply if she was attacked because she was a woman. As long as they hate her because she's Ann Coulter, not out of distaste for women in general, she does not qualify for protection.

I was thinking of all the things I'd like to throw at her, and the only thing that REALLY gets my message across would have been to have everyone in the audience throw a vibrator at her.
But then reality rears it's ugly head, and I realize that she is just not worth the cost of the vibrator or the whipped cream.
Now if ITJock liked the combination.

An arrest was made at an Ann Coulter speaking event this past Tuesday night at the University of Texas. Her speech was part of the "Distinguished Speaker" series. While you are looking up the correct definition of "distinguished", please remind me what freedom means because the protestors were told where to sit (in the back of the room) and ordered to keep quiet during her childish antics. I guess it's called freedom with limitation. The university should be ashamed for inviting a hack like this...and for spending $30,000 for her trashy ways.

$30k is a paltry sum on the speakers' market. Nice to know Ann's getting what she deserves in all senses.

And here I thought PF might pop in with something like this:
Dear Libs,
Practice what you preach. You scream about free speech and tolerance and respecting others' opinions, except when someone who holds a different opinion from you attempts to speak. Then you attempt to shut them down, often violently.

Daily Texan Link No, bobby, it's called common courtesy. If someone is speaking, he/she ought to be permitted to, uh, actually SPEAK. Letting so-called protestors (anti-First Amendment folks, in reality) disrupt a speaker cannot be permitted.

Except that the police chose to arrest the man after he asked a question during a designated answer and question period after her speech. If being disruptive were the problem, they should have been arresting people who interupted during the speech. Instead, the police tacitly approved of that behavior and squelched the free flow of ideas when it came time for those. Certainly what that individual said is no more offensive to Ann that what she says is to me.

I'm surprised none of our resident First Amendment defenders have given us
AC's side of the story. Especially since she's written about this pattern of
assaults and batteries on her before.
