Ah, the shrill, single-issue harridan, champion of the green-tooth brigades, Ileiana Gross Latent-Bitch. At least she's consistent - whenever a survey is done on the least effective members of congress, she consistently ranks in the ten least.......
Two phone encounters with IGLB:
A few years ago, a co-worker was in the process of securing his citizenship. The local INS office was giving him some grief, so I suggested he call his congressperson - IGLB. We looked on the 'Net for her Washington office phone number (this was when the House was first beginning to put up very simplistic websites for individual members). We called the number listed and lo and behold, we were speaking to the great lady herself. Apparently whoever put together that first website listed her "private hotline" (Bat-phone) as her main office number. My friend handed me the phone, and all I could hear was this shrill voice saying over and over "How deed you get theese noombur" (she must have repeated this three or four times.....
I said "M'am, why don't you let me speak to one of your staff memebrs and I'll expain what happened and how to fix it" She replied "ooo, ok..". When the staff memebr came on the line, I told her to be sure to stay on the line to answer my friend's question - I then explained to contact the people who put together the site to get the number changed (she had no real idea what the internet was - she thought I was talking about the printed House directory). I then told her I was handing the phone to my friend so that he could ask his original question - when he put the receiver to his ear, nothing but a dial tone.....
Second: Another co-worker and his wife told me they were going to DC for a work-plus-vacation trip. I told them about the fact that members of Congress can provide tickets for expanded White House tours (that also don't require waiting in the humungous regular line). They called IGLB's office, and were told they had to submit a list of things, like SS#, DOB, DL # and other stuff and that there would be an 8-10 week wait to get the tickets (they were requesting for four months away). They said "forget it". I told them to call my MC's office (Peter Deutsch), and the response was "sure, how many did you need" - they had thwe tickets in hand a week later.
Edited for repeated word
