Why is Tampa Bay playing so badly? They're still in the playoff hunt and playing at home and they're losing 27-7 at halftime.

They've been underachieving all year. It's their season in a microcosm. They started poorly, made a late rush but fell short. The pirate ship has been sunk.
I can watch parts of 8 games this weekend! The 3 games today, there are 2 games at 1 pm tomorrow on different networks, the Eagles at 4, the ESPN game tomorrow and Monday Night Football. Not quite DirecTV, but... wink

To summarize the Saturday games, I have 3 questions:
Is it a jinx to win the Super Bowl? Another Super Bowl champion sucks the following season and doesn't make the playoffs.
What's with the "Outkast" style hairdo of Randy Moss?
And finally I need to know is Suzy Kolber of ESPN a lesbian or what? I can't stand listening to her deep masculine voice that I'm forced to grab the remote for some mute relief.

Reuben from American Idol is a better defensive lineman than Warren Sapp.
As a Kansas City diehard, I now officially announce that the season is over.
From a Jason Whitlock article:
QUOTE
Have you noticed that there is a common denominator in all these embarrassing, self-promotional NFL antics?
You figured out yet what Joe Horn's cell phone has in common with Chad Johnson's end-zone billboard and Keyshawn Johnson's feud with Jon Gruden and Terrell Owens' pom poms and Randy Moss' sideline tantrums?
Whitlock Article They're all wide receivers.
Randy Moss' hair today was nothing other than something to compete with the other wide receivers for attention.

Per Gumbel and Simms, the deal with the Moss' hair and some of his teammates' hair was a "throw back" as in, they wanted to go back to their winning ways. Kinda corny I know but I guess it worked for them. I almost thought I was watching a Halloween Day game. eek!

That was a very nice and satisfying win yesterday. Vikes defense looked very sharp, especially in the first half. Now hopefully the Vikes won't lay egg in the desert next week against the Cardinals! Then they'll get their first round playoff game at home in the Dome where they play much better.
As for Randy changing his hair to garner some attention, all this Joe Horn/Chad Johnson stuff just happened last week. Even Bigfoot and Tiffany Taylor dolls can't grow hair that fast. People change their hairstyles guys. And even if it was to get some attention, it's not against the rules.
Home field is always nice but I'm not sure the Pats clinching home field was as huge as some of these announcers would have us believe. Its going to be tough for the Colts or Chiefs to go into Foxboro in January. But the Ravens, Broncos and Titans would seem to be able to perform in those conditions. And the Pats do seem to perform better offensively on the road.

It is a perfect ending to a VERY disappointing season. I have been trying to find where Brad Johnson has ever thrown 4 INTs, don't think he has. In that game they looked how they did when Dilfer was QB. Props to Coyote for "guessing" the Bucs wouldnt make the playoffs. We will see what moves are made in the off season, as I am expecting ALOT for good reason.

George, Moss has been wearing his hair braided this season. Believe it or not, unbraided, that's the length of it.

The Cowboys are in the playoffs, and the Saints are gone. The Saints got a miracle touchdown -- three laterals on the final play to make it 20-19 Jacksonville -- but John Carney missed the extra point! The NFC is now down to the Vikings, Packers and Seahawks for the final 2 spots.

You guys see the finish of the JAX/NO game? New Orleans had all but lost the game and had been eliminated from the playoffs, but on the last play of the game there was a series of laterals involving Brooks, McAllister, Pathon, and Stallworth that ended up in a touchdown. John Carney comes out to kick the extra point to take the game into overtime and keep them alive for the playoffs. What does he do? Misses the extra point! Unbelievable!!!

Theo, I did, and I won't forget it. It will be on the sporthighlights reel just about everywhere today and tonight I would imagine. It was truly unbelievable.....

Yes, that was an amazing play! You gotta feel for John Carney, apparently he has missed only 5 PAT's in 408 attempts throughout his 14-year career. It brings back memories of Scott Norwood and the Buffalo Bills. If the Saints had won, I think the only way they would have made it into the playoffs is if they won their final game next week and if Green Bay lost both of its remaining games. And speaking of the Packers, I heard on NFL Prime Time that Brett Favre's father died of a heart attack while driving in Mississippi today. Most unfortunate for Brett; I doubt if he will be able to play on Monday night.

You know, it kind of sucks that the Dolphins could feasibly finish 10-6 by beating the Jets next week, and yet they have absolutely NO way of making the playoffs. You have got to look at that Week 1 collapse against the Texans or that overtime loss against the Patriots, and just cringe.

The Chiefs were awful on Saturday. I can easily see them doing a one-and-out in the playoffs.
The Pats just win, baby. Nothing flashy, but they just keep winning. They have to be the favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, the group I was with didn't see the end of Jim Haslett's Saints career, er, the end of the Saints game. We figureed it was over and so we watched a different game on the Dish. Dang.
The Bengals were just overmatched by an excellent St. Louis team. The Colts defense looked awful; when a rookie 3rd (4th?) stringer can shred you for over a 100 yards like that, a major re-think of the defense is in order. Brandon Stokely sure is cute though.

Did you guys see Kerry Jenkins roughing up Patrick Kerney during the game on Saturday?

. Jenkins repeatedly shoved Patrick Kerney's head into the ground after Kerney laid a clean hit on quarterback Brad Johnson.

. I couldn't help but amuse myself by imagining Jenkins saying to Kerney, "If you ever make a derogatory remark about gays again, I will make you my boy toy!"

Both New Orleans and Tampa Bay had wild rallies fall short. It's definitely a what if season in both cases. Each would've brought a different story to the NFC playoffs. New Orleans would become the "team of destiny" in the playoffs after that play. Tampa Bay would be the most feared 6-seed in NFL playoff hitory, beaten up all year, but starting to regain their swagger at the right time.
Belichick, Lewis, and Parcells may be getting the pub for Coach of the Year, but what the hell is Dick Jauron doing with the Bears at 7-8, they were destined for one of the top picks in the Draft next year.

I loved it, he looked gorgeous! Bring on those huge 'fros--it helped the Vikings win, didn't it? Maybe Donovan McNabb needs a new blowout to get back on the winning track.
AND THE RAMS ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE NFC!!!!

Considering a loss by Kansas City on Saturday night and a Sunday night game at home against a Clinton Portis-less Broncos team, I'm sure just about everyone thought the Colts would have enough to pull one out. Heck, as big of a Broncos fan as I am, I even had to pick the Colts in the weekly pick'em.
Well, I had a thought this a.m. Guess who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated last week? You guessed it: Peyton Manning. He was 12 for 23, 146 yards and no TD's and his Colts lose a very important game that could have secured them the division and a very good shot at a 1st round bye.
