The Colts have signed Adam Vinatieri, but of course they should have signed him 2 months ago!

They should have signed him a few years ago. wink This strikes me as a potentially boneheaded move by the Patriots.

Could be....but since it's the Pats and Belichick is considered a genius with the rings to back it up less people will question the move as would if this was another club.

They should have signed him at 4:15 EST on Jan. 15 so he could have made the 46-yarder to send the Steelers playoff game into OT!

What are they complaining about? Being from Maryland I can remember when Indianapolis stole a whole damn team.

I'm also from Maryland, and I watched as they cut in on Carson to show 'em loading the Mayflower moving vans to move to some midwestern city that I still hate. From that day, I have wished nothing but bad things to that franchise. Vinatieri's always been a favorite of mine (doesn't hurt that he's f___ing hot), but I can't root for him anymore. Sigh, a sad day. frown

Well, with a slight swerve here:
Do you know how much Viniteri's Fantasy value just went up? Now he's clutch IN A DOME!
Whoo Hoo! First kicker to go off the board!

Will Peyton Manning have the same type of relationship with Adam Vinatieri as he had with Mike Vanderjagt? I can't imagine there'll be the same fun quotes now.
If Belichick could have chosen where Vinatieri went, Indianapolis would have been at the bottom of the list, but this move will make the (seemingly inevitable) playoff game between the Patriots and Colts even more interesting.

The Colts in a meaningful playoff matchup against the Pats? So far, the Colts haven't proven they can even be all that interesting in the playoffs.

Oh, you're wrong -- they're incredibly interesting (the Steelers playoff game was one of the greatest ever), but not successful. wink

Damn Jim, that was cold. If I was a Colts fan, I'd hunt you down. That being said, it was funny as hell!

If the Colts believe the reason for their playoff failures are Vanderjadt's fault, they are delusional. Did he gag? Sure. But Peyton did too. Losing Edgerrin James will be much more of a negative than landing Vinatieri will be a positive. Domanic Rhodes won't come anywhere near 4000 yards over a 3 year span like Edge did.

Does anyone have a full-page image of Vinatieri shirtless holding the football that Jim used on the Jock Talk page? Wow, I want it as my wallpaper for a few days. Inspirational.
