Full Version: Drew Henson a Cowboy
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Football, Pro
Joe in Philly
Houston traded him for a 3rd-round pick in 2005 and Dallas signed him to a "modest" contract that escalates if he plays enough of the team's snaps.

Buh-bye Quincy Carter? Can Drew step in immediately and be better than Quincy?

Another baseball player that couldn't hit the curveball and slider so he retreats to another sport. See: Danny Ainge.

Hitting a receiver doesn't require the same accuracy and good eyesight as hitting a tinny ball hurled at 90 mph. He might do better in football.

A myriad other factors could prevent him from making the switch, many of them uncontrollable by him.

What are the other coaches and players going to think of his skills now? Will they give him time to adjust? Will the fans?

Will he be the next Chad Hutchinson (baseball-to-football convert), or will he be the next Tom Brady (ex-Michigan "star" NFL quarterback)? Only time will tell. Folks, I just don't have a good feeling about this, but I hope I'm wrong. Surely Parcells had input in this, and it wasn't all Jerry Jones' idea.

I just think that having been so close last year that they would have done much better with an experienced QB not a project. Garcia or Couch would have been better for Dallas this season. Henson may be another Brady eventually, but I doubt it will happen this year.

I agree, I think Garcia or Couch would have been a better fit for the Cowboys but who knows. I think Drew will be a good QB just not sure how long it will take him. I think he will be an improvement over Carter. They rolled the dice and we will see how it goes. I will say hes a damn sexy guy : )

I think Couch would have been a perfect fit for both the team and the coach. I was sure the Cowboys would bring him on board; seeing they went for Henson instead is a total surprise. Hopefully the gamble will work out better for them than it did for the Yankees.
