So here is my question.
Without this turning into a bashing of either party, are we better off/safer now than we were before 9/11.
I am of the mind that we had not improved our intel as much as needed

In some ways, probably yes, in other ways no. I think the FBI needs a complete housecleaning, but that should have happened on 9/12/2001, just as the CIA should have been swept clean too.

But I guess you need compromised agencies to provide you with bogus data...you can always hold the threat of firing over them to make them cook the books--or dossiers, what have you.
