We're all so fortunate to live in a country where dumbasses are free to gather in public and say stupid, insulting things.

My favorite? \"I HEART NY Even More Without the World Trade Center.\"

And you also say them on messageboards too.

Bobby, speaking of fake signboards, check out the church sign generator. The one shown is from GodHatesShrimp.com -- you know, 'cause Leviticus prohibits shellfish and all... Some of the real-life ones are classics, like "DON'T BE SO OPEN-MINDED, YOUR BRAINS (WILL) FALL OUT"

To display one online, you have to capture the image, upload it somewhere, then link to the URL. Which I'll be glad to do if someone comes up with a really, REALLY good one! biggrin.gif

William, thanks for posting that link. I recognize some familiar scenes and sentiments from SF. I also recognize the denial of those who claim the signs were faked. Clinical and cynical, all at once and at odds.

Maybe I should tell you about the last sign I carried in SF - one that read "Gay GOPers for Bush" - during one of the many anti-war rallies that city revels in. That's not all I carried that day; I was doused with ketchup by one of SF's innumerable punks - I use the term in its non-homophobic sense - for carrying that sign.

Ultimately, all the signs in SF said "leave town." I finally followed their advice, although they never pointed the way. That I figured out for myself - and am soooo glad I did!

Why claim they're faked? I was saddened at the dismissiveness of the person who owned that website. Yes, many of those signs were stupid. But the right has those who wander about with "G-d hates fags signs" Every side of an argument has their crazies. But there were a significant number of those signs that had sincere and informed comments. Too bad there are those who can't understand that.

It's absurd to compare these two movements. The anti-war "peace" protests, looney as they are, are far greater in number and power, and thus their calls for death and destruction far more alarming, than any "God Hates Fags" protest, which is almost universally viewed as a joke and is the work of some nutcase alleged church with no direct links, that I'm aware of, to any major political party or movement - i.e., what is the "GFF" group's equivalent to the Kucinich campaign, the Green Party, or any of the supporters of the SFO march as well as others around the world:

When the God Hates Fags people have this much support from this many whack-job groups from around the nation, I'll worry about their calls to destroy America and their support for the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the deaths of US troops.

How dare you call ALL of those groups whack-jobs?! I selected several of them at random and searched for their websites, and found groups who are in search of peaceful solutions to a variety of international and domestic problems, and who want to get out their opinions on foreign policy. Just because you disagree with their positions and they might have participated in a rallies with a small percentage of legitimate whack-jobs, that doesn't make them all whack-jobs.

Of course the right-wing "whack-jobs" don't need that many groups, because they are huddled together under the guise of religion: Focus on the Family; the Southern Baptist Convention; The 700 Club; Jerry Falwell Ministries; and places like John Brown University and a certain county in Tennessee.

Thank you William for bringing this is oh-so-important issue to everyones attention.

Im just wondering .... are
"Synthesis @ Wallkill High School"
and
"The Synthesis Club of Wallkill Senior High School" the same group? You've really got to keep an eye on these guys.

Please let us know.

I happened to be in New York last year at the same time as the anti-war protest down Broadway when the war started. The best, funniest sign I saw was "Clean Up, America. Your Bush Stinks!"

No, just an informed and civilized debate in the marketplace of ideas. "We're a rainbow," remember? I'm not surprised you're unclear on how that concept should operate.

gmg: A PRO-CHOICE, PRO-ENVIRONMENT Teddy Roosevelt Republican With a Proven Record of Working For an INCLUSIVE GOP.

Is that "INCLUSIVE GOP" the same one that wants to amend the constitution to ban gay marriage?

Just wondering....

Inclusion wins!!!

Just one of the many "sincere and informed comments" to which jqueer was referring, I'm sure.

Good question, Raze. Your fellow lefties are apparently so stupid they don't understand the pitfalls of alphabetizing a group under "T" when its name begins with the word "the," and when said group has already been listed under "S." At any rate, yes, we do have to keep an eye on these guys. I'm sure DHS is on it. With any luck, those synthesized punks are all rotting at Gitmo as I type. Thank God for the Patriot Act.

Isn't it sad how William lumps terrorists in with peace activists and anyone who protests this so-called "war" when it was Bush's fellow Republican, Teddy Roosevelt, who in 1918 said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Oh, the hypocrisy!

Oh, I dare. And as for this, "Just because you disagree with their positions...that doesn't make them all whack-jobs" hoorah: Wrong. But thanks for playing, it's just a shame I don't have any lovely parting gifts for you.

Yeah, thats a shame, too bad you dont have any George Bush tax-cut flash cards to give away, those were probably the ones he was paying attention to while ignoring Al Queda.

Well I must say you're doing a bang up job!
Your "inclusive" party is getting more conservative by the day.
Keep up the good work! Inclusion wins!!

Isn't it sad how William lumps terrorists in with peace activists and anyone who protests this so-called \"war\" when it was Bush's fellow Republican, Teddy Roosevelt, who in 1918 said, \"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.\"  Oh, the hypocrisy!
I don't see celebrating the destruction of the World Trade Center, and the subsequent deaths of some 3,000 people, or encouraging "Death to America", as "criticism of the president," but it's heartening to see you're so open to such ideas, Bobster. Perhaps you can have some t-shirts made with these little leftist slogans.

And for what it's worth, Bobster, the GOP is, for some reason, not contractually bound to every word ever uttered by Teddy Roosevelt, though the particular sentiment you embrace is quite noble in a "well, duh" sort of way. To show my solidarity with you on this particular point, I will now criticize President Bush: He should be doing more to privatize Social Security, and this whole marriage thing is just mawkish and sentimental.

B. The only time I ever bust anybody for spelling or grammar is when they're calling somebody else (usually President Bush) stupid, and when it's a misuse/misspelling based on what seems to be a genuine error, not the result of complete disregard for the rules of the English language ...

It certainly is, no thanks to the most civil liberties adverse administration since WWII that you voted for, and your... I'm trying to find a word that says what I'm feeling, but isn't "pathetic" and failing, oh well... pathetic attempt at dissent within the party of exclusion is doing nothing to foster an atmosphere where diverse opinions are heard in this country.
