After 15 seasons, future Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter will call it quits and pick up a microphone. Carter finishes his career with 1093 receptions and 129 TD catches, both second all time, and 13,833 receiving yards which is third all time. He never made it to the Super Bowl, but had 8 consecutive 1000 yard seasons.

Carter was an amazing talent. He definitely helped mentor Randy Moss. And his off season training methods were second to none. Seems like maybe his personality along with contract demands kept him from getting an offer. But surely he's still better than most receivers in the league, so I don't really get how he couldn't get an offer from some team. I mean Ryan Leaf keeps getting work!

He will join HBO's "Inside the NFL" along with Cris Collinsworth, Dan Marino and Bob Costas. Sounds like Len Dawson and Jerry Glanville are out.

I predict he'll be back. He's not washed up by any means, and it seems to clearly be a money issue--one he created for himself by trying to work out a Cleveland deal when the Rams were all ready to sign him and had a meeting scheduled with him. The Browns deal fell through and the Rams then told him they changed their mind.

TV jobs are a dime a dozen. He'll get another shot at that when he retires for real.
