Back when the Bucs inactivated Keyshawn, I mentioned this scenario to a friend. The Bucs have given Keyshawn's agent permission to talk to Dallas. I will take that trade in a heartbeat!

do you know keyshawn kenny? what kinda' guy is he?
Kenny
Honestly, I always liked Keyshawn and respected him as a player. But last year he became a definate distraction, with his selfishness. One reason I also like this trade if it happens is for kickoff returns. The Bucs STILL have yet to return a kickoff for a touchdown in their history! GRRRRRR!!!
Kenny
P.S. - However, if you ever get to Tampa, his restaurant Profusion in the International Plaza is excellent!

On the one hand, this sickens me. On the other, if Parcells doesn't put up with bull and can turn Keyshawn around to make him a team player, I'm all for having an above-average receiver added to the Cowboys roster. We knew Galloway wasn't going to be around for 2004 anyway.

Galloway had TWO kickoff returns last year, with a long of 22 yards, and TWO back in 1995, with a long of 18 yards... 4 kick returns total in his NFL career.

I didnt know that CU, thanks for the insight. I had only read in the article that the Bucs would probably use him as a return man. Aaron Stecker and Karl Williams have not returned kicks well over the past couple of years, I cannot imagine that part of the game getting worse. rolleyes.gif

Lemme tell you... Galloway is good at receiving a kick, and running directly to the sidelines.

Hahahahaha! I'd love to bet in Vegas on those odds. He's not called MeShawn for nothing. Who's going to throw him the damn ball anyway? Carter or are they looking at bringing someone else in?
coyoteugly
I'm not sure why Dallas would make this trade... why give up anyone for Keyshawn? Wouldn't Tampa just release him this spring rather than bring him back? To me, if Dallas wants this guy, couldn't they just wait and get him when he is cut loose?

Do you think they could afford to keep Galloway and Keyshawn and would want/need to? Or do you think they would cut Galloway in the spring after picking up Key?
coyoteugly
One of the Cowboys' top off-season priorities has been to restructure Galloway's contract, which calls for him to earn $6.31 million in 2004 (counts $8.19 million against the club's salary cap). The Cowboys want to rework the contract because they believe Galloway did not produce statistics worthy of the fifth-highest paid receiver in the NFL. Tampa Bay will also want Galloway to restructure his deal before it agrees to any trade.

Keyshawn is set to receive a $1 million roster bonus April 1 if he is still with Tampa. There's no way Tampa should/will pay that.

I have no idea what Dallas is thinking. Just re-work Galloway's contract, let the Buc's release Keyshawn before April 1, sign Keyshawn for peanuts if Dallas really wants him that badly. Makes no sense. If this trade goes through, it's a steal for Tampa Bay.

You don't have to give up anything to get Keyshawn.
Kenny
well, but if I understand your question... So you actually think Galloway would rework his contract while Dallas is pursuing Key? I think that would be a major advantage if Dallas could do it, but I just don't see happening??? The reason for the trade as far as I am seeing is that it would be beneficial for both teams to "rework" their contracts, therefor beneficial for both teams. All that I am seeing in your suggestion is that Dallas convinces Galloway to rework his contract and then pick up Key???
Esplain Lucy?
Kenny
P.S. - tell me about Sylvestor Morris sir?
MSUBulldog
Where are all the Cowboys fans with this thread going on? smile.gif

Forgetting about the contract restructuring that would have to occur for BOTH players for this trade to occur, it just makes sense. Keyshawn had his best years playing for Parcells with the Jets, and the Bucs want to get rid of "MeShawn". The Cowboys are not happy with Galloway's numbers, particularly after all the draft picks they had to give up for him.

The Cowboys have 3 choices: (1) restructure and keep Galloway, (2) let him go, or (3) trade him for someone useful at the same position. Who really thinks 2 is a good option? And 3 is a better option than 1, so that is what the Cowboys are pursuing.

For now, Quincy is still the QB so he will be throwing the ball to one of the two of these guys. Who will be brought in to be Q's competition remains to be seen.

I'm on record (months ago) that "MeShawn" is a cancer. If he comes REAL cheap and Parcells has him on a VERY tight leash then maybe. He's got to be a better receiver option on the field than Joey who never played up to his Contract $$$. Dallas needs a big receiver, no doubt.

Can we just get KJ on a month-to-month lease and see how it works out with the option to terminate with no penalty? It's his off-field presence/distractions that has me worried. I'd feel the same way if we were talking T. Owens.
MSUBulldog
I hear Keyshawn took a tour of A-Rod's house the other day, since it's on the market.... biggrin.gif

HAHAHA come on man.

Sorry i got into this late, but galloway for Key? Gruden run the west coast O dude... short passes with WR's who can break tackles, not the burner down the field.

I wont even mention the KO and Punt returns.

You should really know better man.
Kenny
There she is! The football goddess is now among us! If you go away again, I promise to miss you! You still betting those 3's?

3 what?

3 losses by Philly in consecutive NFC Championship games?

Rams
BUCS
PANTHERS!!!
Joe in Philly
Oh boy, once again PP has nothing better to do! Remember, he wasn't around when the Bucs flamed out of the playoff picture this season because he said he was so busy with his life, or something. Now he's back to contribute nothing again! Woo-hoo! rolleyes.gif
coyoteugly
Sylvester Morris was the number one draft pick of the Chiefs in 2000, and had a decent rookie season. Then he got hurt, and the injury lingered longer than expected, and then the coach and style of play changed in KC and he didn't fit with Vermeil's style, who likes quicker wide receivers.
PhillyFan
This has nothing to do with the birds, they are going after an ACTUAL big name WR.

Galloway doesnt fit the bucs system... then again he was a flame out in Dallas...

Why oh why would you be excited about this other than to say... we got something for Meee-shawn?

It's a salary dump on both sides... parcells doesnt like galloway... bucs hate meee-shawn... one idiot for the other. At the end of the day, neither team is better off.

Tampa should be more concerned with their salary cap. Because they are right at the limit, no on will give anything but another cancer for the current buc cancer of the team.... considering they have about 10 of the... well you get the picture... another sub par season? you bet.

One for each year. But good news, I just saved by switching to Geico. Don't you need to be starting a MOJO thread or something?

Being a huge Cowboys fan, I really hope that this deal doesnt go through, but I said the same thing about the A-Rod deal for the Rangers and look what happenned. Keyshawn would ruin the already little chemistry that is on this young team. His numbers have gone down every year over the last 3 seasons, so he isnt worth it.

I would rather see the Cowboys draft one of the many big, downfield threat, receivers that will be availabe in this year's draft. They do need a big time receiver, but the answer isn't Keyshawn. How about Roy Williams, Reggie Williams, Mike Williams, Larry Fitzgerald(who wont be available, by the time the Cowboys draft in the first round), etc. They have already stated that they are drafting a running back in the first round. This draft is wide receiver heavy, and the Cowboys should be able to pick up a decent one, even in the second round.

I'd LOVE to have Roy Williams! He WILL be better than Keyshawn. One on Offense and one on Defense! RW2x'd biggrin.gif

ESPN.com is reporting the deal is dead. Seems Galloway and Tampa are not even close on terms.
Jim Allen
Is that "dead" as in "not going to happen" or as in "A-Rod goes to Yankees" dead?
DallasUNC
I sat through the Giants-Cowboys Monday Night Game and had the die hard Cowboys fan sitting next to me sing his praises:

"Theres 3 ways...the right way, the wrong way, and the GALLO-WAY!!" he said as his star blinked on his hat.

Now he's a bad player after the season??

Just shows how the Boys fans keep with tradition of jumping off a player's bandwagon once hes ready to leave the team. I hope he does get to go to a good team instead of playing in Irving where hes underappreciated and doesnt have a quarterback who can get him the ball in double coverage. The Panthers could use another good wide out!!

I guess it was "the deal is dead, but not really". It's official, Meshawn to the Boys, Galloway to the Bucs
QUOTE
The Galloway-for-Johnson deal was in the works since late February. It was delayed because Galloway and the Buccaneers couldn't agree on a contract.

The Bucs offered a one-year deal for $2 million with another $600,000 in reachable incentives, according to a source close to negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity. Galloway wanted to sleep on it before making a final decision
