A proud Texan sounds off on the last four years of catastrophic success.

QUOTE
Four more years?

Seems like every group and its hamster has put out some kind of dossier on the last four years. Top Bush Lies. One Hundred Mistakes Bush could admit to. Best scandals. Biggest Bush flip-flops. Iraq. The economy. The environment.

Corporate pork and payoffs galore. Homeland insecurity. The deficit. On and on it goes.

But I like to remember the little things, those itty-bitty things that really made it special. Those touches of style. The je ne sais quoi of it all. Like choosing Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday to announce his administration would oppose affirmative action in the University of Michigan case, calling it \"divisive,\" \"unfair\" and \"unconstitutional.\" Classy timing. Of course, Bush (Andover, Yale, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Harvard Business, three failed oil companies rescued by Daddy's friends, set up by Daddy's friends in baseball and given a huge cut for a tiny investment) never experienced affirmative action in his life. Made it all on his own, pulled himself up by his bootstraps -- black people can do it, too.

This caustic @#$%^ is the Left's answer to that whack job Ann Coulter. I'd throw a pie at Molly, but (a) libs would complain about it [though it's apparently OK of it's against Coulter], and (cool.gif Molly would probably like it, seeing that she's had one too many pies herself anyway.

Tally ho as someone here would say.

I don't get it. Was it ok to throw it at Ann? You seem to feel it's ok to throw it at Molly, but then seem to complain about one being thrown at Ann. You come accross as hypocrytical as you're accusing liberals of being.

Throwing pies in the face of celebrities is funny. I suppose if I were a celebrity in this time of fear and overreaction, I wouldn't be amused, but I'm not. So I get to think it's funny almost regardless of who's getting it. I'm sitting here trying to think of a recipient who wouldn't be funny. The only one still alive that I can think of is the Pope, but I'm not sure about that. A couple of weeks ago, I would have added Christopher Reeve to the list.

I don't think it is right to throw a pie at anyone, no matter how much we disagree with what they say. Everytime I see Ann Coulter on TV, I wish she would get on her broom and fly away.

Molly Ivins is a Texas institution. She is a voice you do not hear too often down here in righ-wing conservative land. If it was not for her, we would never find out a lot of things that go on in the Texas legislature and politics because most of the media here just kisses-up to the Republican party now. It is people like Molly who help me keep my sanity living down here.

We have Molly's weekly column here in Montgomery Alabama-the buckle in the bible belt and the home of the FORMER judge Roy Moore. We also have Cynthia Tucker, George Will, etc. Molly gives one side of every issue, and we have others giving the other side, too. I like to be given all sides of an issue, so that I can make an educated decision.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read here recently.

So true JIP. Molly Ivins has been around longer than Ann has memories. The left's answer?

Actually it's totally blasphemous to even mention Coulter in the same class, category or even sentence with Molly Ivins. tongue.gif

Not at all true. "Ann Coulter is not fit to lick the sweat off Molly Ivin's enormous brass balls." There is nothing blasphemous about that sentence.
HornFan
I stand duly corrected. I couldn't have been more wrong if I had tried jqueer! biggrin.gif
auNsoccer
I definitely would not Molly's Ivins enormous brass balls in the IMPARTIAL category. tongue.gif
HornFan
Who said she was impartial? She's just plain right. tongue.gif tongue.gif

JIP, I think this is our old buddy MIB, who was constantly going on about "whack jobs." I like the "Veritas," which as we all know is on the Harvard University and Yale (Lux et Veritas) seals. Endorsements of those seats of liberalism, MI..er, Mr. Truth?

Not that it matters, but is Molly Ivins a bulldagger?

Another good one from Molly. smile.gif

Awwww, Ashcroft! My man. The one I liked best of the whole Cabinet, the most consistently entertaining, the most the most deliciously inept, the most amazingly wrong-headed. Ashcroft, my personal Bush administration icon. And besides, he's so sexy.

How can we forget the golden moments? The day he covered up the nekkid tit on a statue of the Spirit of Justice in the Justice Department headquarters because we can't have that kind of thing. His fabulous pre-9/11 record, especially the day he finally told his top terror guy he just didn't "want to hear about it."
Another good one from Molly.

What a bunch of utter bullshit, even from someone as hateful as Ivins. To even think the U.S. has killed hundreds of thousands of people is purely horrible and insulting.

I love Molly. She's a true treasure!!! Her, Ann Richards and Liz Smith are the best things to come out of Texas. Oh and maybe Jerry Hall, too.

Hate to disappoint you MIB, but she is proabably right. But, since neither you nor me are over there, we really don't know, now do we. I love Molly. Her columns always set off some right-wing nut jobs to their typewriters to create some of the most humorous letters to the editor at our local paper. Gotta love those right-wing nut jobs with the crainial implant of Faux News Channel!
MIB
Probably right??? Come on now. Even you can't believe that. Hussein murdered hundreds of thousands of people. Estimates run the gamut from 300,000+ to over a half million, and you actually believe for a minute that the U.S. has exceeded this? Give me a freakin' break! rolleyes.gif

Moreover, to even equate the systematic murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people with what the U.S. is doing is an insult to the men and women of our armed forces. For this Molly, whom I occasionally enjoy, should apologize and be scorned. Shame on her!
millerbeach
MIB, you forgot to blame Bill Clinton for all of this....shame on you! Too bad Bush's father couldn't have finished what he started. We might not be stuck with all this mess if George Sr. or Ronald Reagan had done their jobs. After all, per your own admission, the murdering by Saddam has been going on for years.

Yes, the murder had been going on for years thanks to the U.S. supplying Saddam with WMDs that he authorized later to be used on the Kurds. Oh, yeah, Rumsfeld was the delivery guys for those back in the 80s. smile.gif
